French Sweep: June 4, 2013...


It's time to cross the Atlantic for this week's sampling of the records making the charts in France this week, as Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" reigns for a sixth week in their home country.

The top entry of the week at #21 is "We Own It" from the soundtrack of Fast and Furious 6. It's Wiz Khalifa's fifth top-40 hit (his biggest here has been "Young Wild and Free" with Snoop Dogg with went to #6 here), while it's 2 Chainz' second and best showing in the top-40...

Daft Punk are having a really good week in France, not only claiming the #1 spot, but also have the new #1 album here as well, and seven of its tracks sell enough on their own to land on the top-100 singles chart. First up at #23 is the lead-off song "Give Life Back To Music"...



Next up at #29 the duo team up with Julian Casablancas from the Strokes on "Instant Crush"...


DP's second track with Pharrell Williams, "Lose Yourself To Dance", arrives at #31...


The runner-up to Daft Punk on the albums chart this week is French rapper Maitre Gims, who not only debuts at #2 with his debut record Subliminal, but also has the #3 and #4 singles with "Bella" and "J'me Tire", along with "Meurtre Par Stragulation" at #95, and now place six more songs in the Top-100. The highest one coming in at #41 is "One Shot" featuring Dry...


Now for more Daft Punk, as their "Contact" pops in at #46...


Another of their cuts, the dance history lesson "Giorgio by Moroder", enters at #54...


Baltimore alt-rock musician Panda Bear from Animal Collective teams up with DP at #63 for "Doin' It Right"...


The second new Maitre Gims entry at #66 is "VQ2PQ"...


Gims collaborates with The Shin Sekai at #76 for "Ca Marche" ("How Do You Do")


He's also in at #79 with "Epuise'" ("Exhausted")...


French alt-rock group Fauve ("Wild Animal") sneak in at #82 with "Blizzard"...


Maitre Gims is up next at #83 with "Changer" ("Change")...


British drum & bass outfit Rudimental take their former UK #1 "Waiting All Night" to #89 in this country...


Back to Maitre Gims at #90 with "Pas Touche'" ("Hands Off"), and not even France is immune to Pitbull showing up on a record...


Lastly, Daft Punk holds down the #100 spot with "Fragments Of Time" featuring DJ/producer Todd Edwards (a Jersey Boy)...
