Brit Sweep: June 16, 2013...

Hey gang, the weekend's over, and time to check out the songs jumping into the top-100 on the just-released Official sales charts in the United Kingdom this week, as Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" holds on for a third week at #1...

It's a "slow" week here in the, UK, with only one single debuting in the top-40. That feat belongs to rapper Wiley, with his seventh top-10 single. "Lights On", at #9, features newcomer Angel and Tinchy Stryder. Last year Wiley scored his first #1 with "Heatwave"...

This week sees The Voice get its first top-10 hit, as Leah McFall's R&B reading of "I Will Survive" (the Chantay Savage version of the disco classic) jump from #16 to #8. Now this week an original take on a pop hit makes it on to the chart, as Mike Ward's country cover of Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man" debuts at #65. Man, is he a looker, and the concept is really well-done, but man his voice does need a little pitchwork...(he's on Tom Jones' team BTW)...

Last week a "copycat" version of Icona Pop's still-not-released "I Love It" made the chart. This week another faux-IP version of it credited to Venus Palermo (not sure if its from controversial YouTube girl), though of course as before there's no clip for it...

Trash-pop queen Ke$ha returns at #75 with "Crazy Kids" with will.i.am (who incidentally is a judge on The Voice UK...

British hardcore band Enter Shikari arrive at #79 with "Radiate". The have placed two singles in the top-40 - "Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour" and "Juggernauts"...

Depeche Mode return at #88 with the second single from their Delta Machine set, "Soothe My Soul".

The last entry on the top-100 proves that Icona Pop's loss is Glee's gain as the cast's karaoke of "I Love It" pops in at #90...

That's it from this British trip....I'll be back tomorrow with another Song of the Day, part two of this week's "album sweep", and the Robbed Hit of the Week.. Cheers!
