Aussie Sweep: June 5, 2013...

It's time for this week's trip Down Under to check out the singles making their first week on the official Australian sales charts this week, as Robin Thicke holds down the top spot for a fourth week with "Blurred Lines"...

The Australian version of The Voice proves its dominance yet again as 11 of the 12 performances debut on the top-100 chart this week. For the second week in a row, the highest debut is by Harrison Craig, who comes in at #12 with the Henry Mancini Pink Panther song "It Had Better Be Tonight" that Michael Buble' recently covered. Naturally, he was put forward on the show by the public vote..

Next up at #23 is Celia Pavey from Delta Goodrem's Voice team, who got the public vote for her take on the Sound Of Music classic "Edelweiss"...

Another Voice frontrunner, Luke Kennedy from Ricky Martin, covered George Michael's "Freedom '90" and was sent ahead by public vote and shows on the chart at #25...

The second of Ricky's Voice teammates, Miss Murphy, was not far behind at #30 with her version of Fugee's take on "Killing Me Softly", and he sent her on to the next round...but really, can we just once have Roberta Flack's 10x better reading get the respect it deserves?

The fourth Voice coach, the absolutely adorbs Joel Madden, had his team's Danny Ross "saved" by the public and charting at #33 with Neil Young's "Old Man"...

Jackie Sannia, from Delta's Voice troupe, has the dubious honor of being the eliminated singer with the highest-charting performance as her cover of Natalie Imbruglia's "Smoke" (a top-10 British hit that missed the Aussie top-40) comes in at #42 (the same position the original peaked, in a twist of fate)...

The biggest non-Voice single to come on the chart is Olly Murs (ironically, a singing competition vet himself), with "Dear Darlin" at #47...

Steve Clisby, who got saved by Delta over the aforementioned Jackie Sannia, enters at #49 with Billy Joel's "New York State Of Mind". Personally I would've gone with Sannia's bold choice and better vocals over this karaoke competence....

At the halfway mark at #50 is Fergie along with rappers Q-Tip and Goonrock on the Great Gatsby single "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody"...

Mitchell Anderson, the coach's save from Seal's Voice team, is in at #54 with the classic Jimmy Ruffin soul tune "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted"...

The second debuting soundtrack song at #55 is 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa with "We Own It" from the Fast And Furious 6 movie...

Kiyomi Vella, the last of the coaches saves (from Joel's Voice team), debuts at #58 with her performance of the Naked And Famous' "Young Blood". The New Zealand band took the song originally to #26 in Australia in 2010...

The eliminated singer from Joel's team, Michael Stangel, send his Voice take on R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" to #65...

...one notch below that is Jessie J (a judge on the British version of The Voice) with "Wild"...

Russo-German DJ/producer Zedd brings his #1 US dance hit "Clarity" featuring Foxes on to the Australian chart at #71...

Simon Meli, who was bounced from Ricky Martin's Voice gang last week, comes on at #77 with Elton John's "Tiny Dancer"...

American hiphop kings Macklemore and Ryan Lewis send another single on to the Aussie charts with "Wing$" at #83 hoping for a fourth consecutive #1. It's the final debut of the week...

It's interesting to note that the one Voice single that didn't make the top-100 was Alex Gibson's version of Temper Trap's "Sweet Disposition", while the original does appear at #81...so here it is...

...that's it for tonight...I'll be back tomorrow with another song of the day, 7 of the 70s, and 8 of the 80s...
