Pop Sweep: May 25, 2013...

Hey gang, it's time to kick off today's five-part "chart sweeps" sampling the songs reaching the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine. As always I'll start off with the pop side of things, and later I'll bring you the newest in rock, R&B, country, and dance.

On the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis rack up a second week at #1 with "Can't Hold Us" featuring Ray Dalton...

The top debut of the week is the first top-40 hit in four years for assumedly outgoing American Idol judge and all-around diva supreme Mariah Carey. Her new one "#Beautiful" featuring Latin soul star Miguel arrives at #24 with help from a once-an-hour playing on Clear Channel stations - now tell me how is this not payola? Her last to reach the top-40 was 2009's "Obsessed"...

Another former Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez, also jumps on the chart at #73 with Pitbull in their third collaboration on a single, "Live It Up". Their first, "On The Floor" in 2011, was her first top-10 as a lead artist in over eight years, setting up a "comeback" of sorts...

Country trio Gloriana enters at #83 with "Can't Shake You" after 35 weeks on the country airplay chart. The band's similarly-slowburn "(Kissed You) Good Night" went to #34 on the Hot 100 two years ago...

The fifth song from Canadian YouTube queen Carly Rae Jepsen's debut album Kiss, "Tonight I'm Getting Over You", comes in at #90. "Call Me Maybe" has sold over 10 million copies worldwide so far...

Country hunk Randy Houser is back at #91 with the second single from his latest album, How Country Feels, "Runnin' Outta Moonlight". The title track went to #42 on this chart earlier this year...

The first (and so far only) performance from this season's The Voice debuts on the chart - it's Danielle Bradbery from Blake Shelton's "team" with her version of Pam Tillis' classic "Maybe It Was Memphis". The original never made the Hot 100 but did reach #3 on the country chart in 1992...

Easton Corbin takes his top-20 country hit "All Over The Road" on to the main chart at #98. His debut single "A Little More Country Than That" peaked right under the top-40 at #42 in 2009...It's my "Pop Pick Of the Week"...

The last entry on the big chart at #100 is the all-star roster of Lil' Wayne's "Young Money" camp as "Tapout" accredited to the "Rich Gang' featuring Birdman, Future, Mack Maine, Nicki Minaj, and Weezy himself. As Young Money the label had two top-10 hits, with "Bedrock" reaching #2 in 2009...(NSFW)

...and now for the pop radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Pop radio chart, Pink and Nate Ruess stay at #1 for a second week with "Just Give Me A Reason", while the aforementioned "#Beautiful" is the high debut at #22, and J-Lo's "Live It Up" is next at #33...

Kelly Clarkson's "People Like Us" makes the radio chart this week at #36...

The last debut here at #40 is trash-pop queen Ke$ha with will.i.am on "Crazy Kids"...

On the Adult-Top-40 format, "Just Give Me A Reason" spends its third week on top while "#Beautiful" is the top entry at #35 (ahem, payola)..

Right under that at #36 is Selena Gomez (without the Scene) with "Come And Get It", which also becomes her first top-10 single on the Hot 100 leaping to #6...

Anna Kendrick's highlight from Pitch Perfect, "Cups (When I'm Gone)", gets the expanded pop treatment and lands at #37...

The last of the debuts here at #39 is Maroon 5 with the fourth single from their Overexposed album, "Love Somebody"...

Lastly, on the "easy" format of Adult Contemporary, The Lumineers shine at #1 for a fourth week with "Ho Hey", while Mariah's "Beautiful" is the only debut at #23...

That does it for this week's pop world...I'll be back in 90 minutes with the newest on rock radio...
