Meanwhile, another dance jam infiltrates the top-10 as Dutch DJ/remixer/producer Armin van Buuren enters the list at #6 with "This Is What It Feels Like" featuring vocalist Trevor Guthrie (formerly of the Canadian dance-pop act soulDecision). In 1998 he went to #18 with "Communication"...

English singer/songwriter Gabrielle Aplin scores her third top-20 hit as "Panic Cord" debuts at #19. Her debut single, a cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "The Power Of Love", went to #1 last year, and this is my "Brit Pick of the Week"...

Outgoing American Idol judge Mariah Carey comes on to the chart at #39 with her new single "#Beautiful". Considering her massive success in the US, Mimi has only topped the chart in this country twice - with her cover of Nilsson's "Without You" in 1994 and as a featured artist on Westlife's version of "Against All Odds" in 2000. It features latin soul star Miguel, making only his second appearance on this chart...

Australian electrohouse duo Knife Party jumps in at #43 with "Power Glove". It's their highest rank as a lead artist so far - they went to #4 with the Swedish House Mafia on "Antidote" last year...

Appropriately-named British drum and bass act  Drumsound and Bassline Smith are back at #53 with "One In A Million". Last year they reached the UK top-40 twice, with their collaboration on the Utah Saints' rework of "What Can You Do For Me" going to #28...

American R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan's 2008 single "Bust Your Windows" finally makes the British chart at #63. In American it went to #31 five years ago...

House music act Hot Natured, featuring Welshman Jamie Jones, enters at #81 with "Reverse Skydiving" featuring Anabel Englund...

Making its first appearance on the Top-100 of the British chart is Northern Irish rock legend Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" at #93. His best showing on the UK chart so far came in 1989 with "Whenever God Shines His Light" with Cliff Richard...
