Album Sweep: April 27, 2013 - Part Two...

Hey folks, it's time to roll out part two of this week's "album sweep", sampling the records making their first appearance on Billboard magazine's Top 200 Albums chart. You can check out part one by clicking here, and as before I've included links to buy anything if possible.

Coming in at #70 is country singer Chuck Wicks, whose five-song EP Rough is his first release since his debut full-length album Starting Now went to #24 in 2008. Chuck was originally seen on the reality show Nashville (not to be confused with the current hit musidrama)...

Dallas-based heavy-metal band Drowning Pool enters at #72 with their fifth studio album Resilience. Their first two reached the top-20, with debut Sinner going as high as #14 in 2001...

English singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, who was up for a Brit Award for breakthrough act last year, debuts at #75 with his self-titled first album, which has already placed five singles on the UK Top 100 singles chart.

Going from a newcomer to probably the most experienced act on the debut list, singer/songwriter Paul Anka arrives at #95 with his Duets album. It includes pairings with Michael McDonald, Peter Cetera, the late Michael Jackson, and more. Paul has had two top-10 albums, his hits set Paul Anka Sings His Big 15 in 1960 (one of the first big "pop" albums, staying on the chart 140 weeks), and his comeback Anka in 1974, and this is his first to reach the top half of the chart since 1977...

Contemporary Christian artist Josh Wilson ascends to #129 with his latest work, Carry Me. The title track is a top-10 Christian hit...

Also on the religious tack, Philly rapper Shai Linne enters at #136 with Lyrical Theology Part 1: Theology.. This track below attacks the "church of prosperity" of Joel Osteen, Pat Robertson, and the like. I can dig it...

L.A. hardcore punk act Terror burns in at #145 with their fifth studio set Live By The Code.

Indie-rock group Fossil Collective arrive at #154 with Tell Where I Lie...

Mexican banda star Joan Sebastian debuts at #185 with 13 Celebrando El 13...

Italian "popera" trio Il Volo are back with Mas Que Amor at #161. Their self-titled debut went to #10 in 2010...

The final entry on the chart at #194 is veteran punk band Face To Face with their ninth full-length studio album Three Chords and A Half Truth. It's their third to reach the chart; their last, Laugh Now, Laugh Later, went to #101 in 2011...

That's it for this second half....out of this baker's dozen the three I'd pick first are the Jake Bugg, Face to Face, and Fossil Collective sets....
