Soul Sweep: March 23, 2013...

It's time for the third installment of this week's "chart sweeps" tracking the new songs debuting on this week's singles charts in Billboard magazine, and now I'm up to the latest on R&B radio...

On the R&B/HipHop Airplay chart, Rihanna clings to #1 for a fourth week with "Pour It Up"...

The top debut at #38 is R&B boy-band Mindless Behavior with "Keep Her On The Low", from their upcoming sophomore album. They previously went to #8 in 2011 with "Mrs. Right". This has its merits but damn are their vocals overprocessed.

Entering at #45 is rapper French Montana with "Freaks" featuring (natch) Nicki Minaj. He last went all the way to #2 with "Pop That"...(NSFW)

Soul singer Jarvis arrives at #46 with "Make A Little Room"...

Newcomer B. Smyth debuts at #47 with "Leggo" featuring rapper 2 Chainz...the funky Chris Brown-esque jam (without the assault) is my R&B "pick of the week".

Rapper T.I. has the last entry on the main R&B chart at #48 with "Hello" featuring Cee-Lo Green. He topped the chart a rap lifetime ago in 2006 with "What You Know"...

Meanwhile, on the softer Adult R&B radio format, Charlie Wilson counts his fifth non-consecutive week at #1 with "My Love Is All I Have"...

The top debut here at #33 is singer Joe with "I'd Rather Have A Love"....

R&B singer Luke James comes in at #39 with "I.O.U."...

..and sneaking on the chart at #40 is Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z with their top-5 pop/top-10 R&B hit "Suit & Tie"...(NSFW)

That does it for the soul side the house....I'll be back in 90 with the latest country songs on the radio. Groove On!
