Today's Song of the Day is by Welsh power-pop musician and singer Dave Edmunds, who grew up in Cardiff and kicked around in different groups before embarking on a solo career at the start of the 70s. That year, He released the single "I Hear You Knocking", which topped the British pop chart and went top-5 in the US, Australia, and Canada. After a moderately successful career at home, including a stint in the Nick Lowe-led group Rockpile, Dave finally scored his second top-40 hit in American 13 years later. It's from his Information album, and the first single, "Slipping Away" featured production and writing from Jeff Lynne from the Electric Light Orchestra.


The catchy tune reached the American top-40 for a single week, while going all the way to the top-10 of the rock radio chart. However, in the UK it stalled out at #60.
