Kraut Sweep: January 29, 2013...


It's time now to cross from France to Germany to check out the latest songs making their official Top-100 singles chart, as will.i.am and Britney Spears spend a second week on top with "Scream & Shout"...

The top debut this week is by Ellie Goulding, who finally arrives on the German chart at #26 with her single "Lights", a former #2 in America. Grade: A-

German rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang return at #41 with "Du Kennst Den Westen" ("Do You Know The West"). Grade: D


British X Factor winner James Arthur comes in at #65 with his "winner's song", the cover of Shontelle's "Impossible". Grade: C+


Another older record making it on to the German charts for the first time is American indie-rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with "Heads Will Roll" at #73. It's gotten new exposure in a remix from Canadian DJ A-Trak from the movie Project X. Grade: B+


German-Latino dance act Hot Banditoz are back at #76 with "Get Down On The Floor". In 2004, the trio reached #3 with "Veo Veo"...Grade: C-


Singer Max Raabe, from the western city of Lunen, debuts at #77 with "Fuer Frauen Ist Das Kein Problem" ("This Isn't a Problem For Women").  Grade: C


 One Direction arrives at #79 with their latest, "Kiss You". Their best here so far is the #22 hit "Live While We're Young" last year. Grade: B


Singer Johannes Oerding, from the city of Munster, debuts at #82 with "Nichts Geht Mehr" ("Nothing More"). Grade: C


Dubstep king Skrillex jumps in at #84 with "Bangarang" featuring rapper Sirah. The track has sold over a million copies in America without going further than #72. Sweet. Grade: A


Meanwhile, British dubstep artist Feed Me and folktronica artist Crystal Fighters are at #91 with "Love Is All I Got".  Grade: B-


The final new entry is by German schlager singer Andrea Berg from the city of Krefeld with "Du Hast Mich Tausendmal Belogen" ("Have You Lied To Me A Thousand Times"). It's a single originally released in 2001 but finally comes in at #96. Grade: C-
