Aussie Sweep: January 30, 2013...


G'day gang, it's time for this week's recap of the new songs making their way on to the official singles chart in Australia this week, as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' pro-equality ally anthem "Same Love" stays on top for a second week (woohoo!)...

The top entry this week at #5 is by alt-rock group Birds Of Tokyo from the western city of Perth. "Lanterns" is their first top-10 hit - they came close in 2010 with "Plans" which went to #11. Grade: B

Justin Timberlake is in at #9 with his return, "Suit & Tie" with Jay-Z. He's gone to #1 in Australia twice as a lead artist, with "Rock Your Body" in 2003 and "SexyBack" in 2006. Grade: C



American R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo arrives at #51 with "Forever Now", the follow-up to his top-10 hit "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)". His lead-credit career high so far is "So Sick" from 2006 which went to #4. Grade: B-


British dance music singer Luciana (Caporaso) got her first charting single in this country last year with "I'm Still Hot", and she is back at #88 with "U B The Bass". Grade: C


Australian indie-pop group San Cisco, from the western city of Fremantle, debut at #89 with "Fred Astaire". Grade: B-


Sydney electronica artist Flume arrives at #90 with "On Top" featuring T-Shirt. Grade: C+


The final debut this week is by English indie rockers Foals, who jump in at #98 with "My Number". Grade: B+
