Robbed Hit of the Week 12/10/12 - Dionne Warwick's "Take The Short Way Home"...he Short Way Home"...

Dionne Warwick - "Take The Short Way Home"
from the album Heartbreaker (1982)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #41

This week's "robbed hit" is by R&B/pop vocal icon Dionne Warwick, who closed out 1982 with his top-10 hit "Heartbreaker". That song was written and produced by Barry Gibb and Bee Gees collaborator Albhy Galuten, and Dionne followed that up with another of their songs, "Take The Short Way Home". Again featuring the Bee Gees on backing vocals, the song was much more funky, and a good break from her unending string of ballads...

While "Take The Short Way Home" was a big hit on adult-contemporary radio, reaching #5 on that chart, it stalled right under the top-40 on both the pop (#41) and the R&B charts (#43).
