Album Sweep: December 22, 2012...


Hey gang, it's time for this week's "album sweep", sampling the new records making Billboard magazine's Top 200 Albums chart for the first time. Since there are only eleven debuts, I'll take care of it here in one shot, to make room for tomorrow's start of my top-100 twostepcubchart songs of the year. As always I've included links to buy anything you see if available....

Climbing back as the top-selling album of the week for the fourth non-consecutive one, Taylor Swift sells over 150K last week with Red...

The biggest debut belongs to rapper Wiz Khalifa, as his O.N.I.F.C. (which stands for "Only Nigga In First Class") leaps in at #2, with over 100,000 sold. Wiz's last album, his breakthrough Rolling Papers also came in at the runner-up position...(NSFW)

Sparkling in at #6 is trash-pop princess Ke$ha, with her second full-length studio album, Warrior. Her debut, Animal, topped the album chart in 2010....


The third record to debut in the top-10 is the duo with the top country hit in the US for the second week, Florida Georgia Line, with their first album Here's To The Good Times at #10...


A live-in-studio collection from radio station WXRT in Chicago, a Triple-A (adult album alternative) station, lands itself at #63. ONXRT: Live From The Archives, Vol 14 features performances from Garbage, Arcade Fire, The Shins, The Wallflowers and more, and benefits Rock for Kids and the women's shelter Sarah's Circle...

Post-grunge rockers Hinder arrive at #65 with their fourth studio set Welcome To The Freakshow. Their second, Take It To The Limit, reached #4 in 2008...


Joshua Rogers, the winner of the fifth season of BET's gospel singing competition Sunday Best, lands at #163 with his first EP, Well Done....


Columbia Records launched their "Classic Christmas" compilations from individual artists last year, and The Classic Christmas Album from Luther Vandross, released this past October, comes on the chart at #167.


British singer Paloma Faith sees her excellent sophomore album Fall To Grace get an American release, and it debuts here at #170...


The Disney Channel Ultimate Holiday, featuring Christmas songs done by their TV show stars, enters at #180...



At #187 is the Catholic convent singers Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles with Advent At Epheseus...


The final new entry is the hits collection of hard-rockers Chevelle, Stray Arrows: A Collection Of Favorites....


That does it for this week...out of these the three I'd most recommend are the Paloma Faith, Chevelle, and either the Luther Vandross (if you don't have his earlier Xmas CD) or the beauitful music of the Benedictines of Mary....
