Aussie Sweep: November 21, 2012...

Hey gang, I'm back with this week's look at the new songs making their way on to Australian shores this week, according to their official music chart. This week the Swedish House Mafia hang on to #1 for a second week with "Don't You Worry Child".

The top debut in Australia this week belongs to British boyband One Direction, with "Little Things" arriving at #9. It follows "Live While We're Young", their highest-charting single yet at #2. We're apparently in the "they have dolls made from their likeness" phase, so it's not long until they're in NKOTB-land..

The biggest X Factor Australia single so far appears at #12 as Samantha Jade rockets in with her version of Kanye West's "Heartless", which only went to #40 here in 2008..SPOILER: she just won the crown this season...

One rung below Samantha is her mentor Guy Sebastian, with his new single "Get Along" at #13. His last single "Battle Scars" was a #1 smash here...

X Factor faves The Collective ended up placing third on the program, but I'm sure like fellow non-winners One Direction they have a good career ahead of them. Their take on Timbaland and OneRepublic's "Apologize" ends up at #47.  The original topped the chart here in 2007...

Samantha Jade's second song from that week's show, Rihanna's "Where Have You Been", comes in at #51.  RiRi's version went to #6 earlier this year...

Irish rockers the Script enter at #65 with "Six Degrees Of Separation". It follows their #4 hit "Hall Of Fame"...

The Collective's second song from the night, Chris Brown's "Yeah 3X", pops in at #72. The original went to #4 in 2010...

On the other side of the musical spectrum, folk-rockers the Lumineers have their first Australian hit at #73 with "Ho Hey"...

American modern-rockers Neon Trees are at #76 with their former US top-10 hit "Everybody Talks". They took "Animal" to #25 in 2009..

British hip-hop performer Labrinth debuts at #80 with his #1 UK hit "Beneath Your Beautiful" featuring Emeli Sande. He took "Earthquake" to #4 last year...

American rapper Ludacris returns at #85 with "Rest Of My Life" featuring Usher and David Guetta. As a lead artist, his highest rank was in 2005 with "Pimpin' All Over The World"...

The other X Factor finalist to make the chart this week is fourth-place finisher Bella Ferraro with her cover of Australian singer Kate Miller-Heidke's "Last Day On Earth", which was a top-3 hit here in 2009 (it returns to the chart at #54). That means runner-up winner Jason Owen didn't even make the chart (hmmm...)

The final new entry is Samantha Jade with a song she did the week before, Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" at #96...

That does it for tonight, thanks for dropping by, and I'll return tomorrow with another Song of the Day, candletime, 7 of the 70s, and 8 of the 80s....to everyone traveling for American Thanksgiving, be safe!
