Soul Sweep: November 3, 2012...

Hey gang, I'm up to part three of this week's five-part "chart sweeps" of the newest songs making their way on to the weekly music charts in Billboard magazine. This time out it's the latest at R&B radio.

On the R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart, Miguel's "Adorn" claims a seventh week at #1 (including its time on the now-defiled "Songs" list)...

The top debut this week is by rapper/reality show subject T.I., with "Ball" at 39. He's been to #1 twice before as a lead artist ("What You Know" in 2006 and "Whatever You Like" in 2008) and once in a featured credit ("Shoulder Lean" with Young Dro in 2006)...(NSFW)

The aforementioned Miguel puts his second track from his top-10 album Kaleidoscope Dream album, "Do You..." at #55. Besides "Adorn", he also took "Sure Thing" to #1 last year. He really is the big breakout R&B of this year, and "Diamonds" be damned, he's #1 in my book..

Brandy now has four concurrent songs on the airplay chart as her #3 "Put It Down" and #47 "Wildest Dreams" is joined at #61 by "Do You Know What You Have". She's topped the chart three times, the last being "The Boy Is Mine" in 1998...

...and she's also at #66 with another track from her just-released Two-Eleven album, "Wish Your Love Away"...both are sleek smooth album tracks, and a welcome return.

Sandwiched between those two songs at #62 is former Gap Band lead singer Charlie Wilson with "My Love Is All I Have".  Since leaving the band and also after a boost from guardian angel Snoop Dogg, Wilson has hit the R&B top-40 eight times, with "Charlie: Last Name Wilson" just missing the top-10 at #11 back in 2005...

Newcomer $auce comes in at #68 with his first hit, "Back It Up". Butts. That is all.

The last debut on the main chart is "Bitches & Bottles (Let's Get It Started)" by DJ Khaled featuring rappers Lil' Wayne, T.I., and Future. It's the third chart hit from Khaled's album Kiss The Ring, and he topped the list last year with "I'm On One"...(NSFW, natch)

Meanwhile, over on the more serene Adult R&B chart (or "Urban AC"), Anita Baker's "Lately" remains at #1 for a fifth week...

R. Kelly's fourth song from his Write Me Back album to make the Adult R&B list, "When A Man Lies", is the top debut at #34. The two "official" singles, "Share My Love" and "Feelin' Single", both reached #1 here...

Beyonce's ninth song from her latest album 4 to make a Billboard chart, "Dance For You", is the other entry at #38. It's already been to #6 on the main R&B chart. Her "Love On Top" was her first and only #1 in this format....I've always said that 4 was really underrated (even though selling over a million copies), probably because lead-off single "Run The World (Girls)" was such a trainwreck...

That closes out the soul end of the house, I'll be back in 90 minutes with the latest on country radio. Groove on!...
