French Sweep: October 9, 2012...


Hey gang, it's time for another trip overseas to check out the latest songs selling in France, according to their official music charts.

This week the biggest singles seller in the new track from Rihanna, "Diamonds", which debuts at the top spot. It's her fourth #1 single here, and oddly like this track two of her other chart-toppers were ones that didn't do the same in the US ("Don't Stop The Music" and "Man Down"). The odd one out is this year's "We Found Love"...

Next up at #54 is British-based "folktronica" band Crystal Fighters, with their first hit in this country, "Follow", which already had been a top-20 hit in neighboring Belgium two years ago...


American Lana Del Rey has a big fanbase in France, and her sixth song from her debut album Born To Die, "Ride", makes it onto the singles chart at #73. "Video Games" peaked at #2 here last year...


French DJ/producer SebastiAn, from the northern city of Boulogne,  gets his second hit at #87 with "Tetra". His "Embody" made it to #90 last year...



Coming in at #89 is Taylor Swift's worldwide pop hit, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together". Surprisingly, this is only the second top-100 single in France for the music world's "Jennifer Aniston"; Her "Love Story" went to #14 in 2009...


British band Ivyrise enter at #90 with "Line Up The Stars" featuring Dania Gio...


American indie-rock group the Gossip arrive at #96 with their third top-100 hit in France, "Move In The Right Direction". "Heavy Cross" went to #23 here in 2009...


The final new song in the French top-100 is by trash-pop queen Ke$ha, whose debut single "Tik Tok" was a #1 hit here in 2010. Her latest, "Die Young" pops in at the bottom rung, #100...
