Aussie Sweep: October 24, 2012...


Hey gang, it's time to take a look at the new songs selling in Australia this week, according to their official charts. This week K-Pop king PSY commands a fourth week at #1 with "Gangnam Style".

The top debut this week belongs to Scottish DJ/producer Calvin Harris, who leaps in at #2 with "Sweet Nothing", featuring Florence Welch from Florence + The Machine. Calvin went to #1 earlier this year supporting Rihanna on "We Found Love", while this is Florence's biggest hit in this country so far - her previous best is "Never Let Me Go", which went to #3 earlier this year...

Australian singer and The Voice Australia coach Delta Goodrem racks up a baker's dozen of top-10 hits as "Wish You Were Here" jumps on the chart at #7. She's topped the list here eight times, the last time being 2007 with "In This Life"...



Former British #1 "Wings" by UK X Factor winners Little Mix debut at #34 this week. It's their first hit here...


Taylor Swift's fifth promo single for her just-released Red album, "State Of Grace", enters at #44...


Sydney-based electronia artist Flume comes in at #49 with "Holding On"...


New York alt-rock trio fun follow up their two #1s, "We Are Young" and "Some Nights", with "Carry On" at #53...



Christina Aguilera debuts at #63 with "Your Body". She's been to #1 twice before, with "Lady Marmalade" in 2001 and "Beautiful" a year later...


Australia X Factor faves The Collective return at #65 with their version of Madonna's "Like A Prayer". Her original topped the chart here in 1989, and this cribs the interpolated version by Meck in 2010...



American rapper Lil' Jon arrives at #67 with "Drink" featuring the recently disbanded LMFAO. He went to #1 as a featured artist on Usher's "Yeah" in 2004...(NSFW for the F word)


Maroon 5 are in at #70 with the third single from their Overexposed album, "Daylight". The band has topped the Aussie charts just once so far, with "She Will Be Loved" in 2004...


Australian hip-hop group Hermitude, from the Blue Mountains part of New South Wales, debut at #82 with "Hyperparadise (Flume Mix)". It's a remix by the artist debuting at #49 of a single that made it to #37 here earlier...


American singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey pops in at #89 with her third top-100 single here, "Ride", which comes with an elaborate 10-minute music video..


Another hip-hop act from the Sydney area, Chance Waters, enters at #91 with "Young And Dumb"....


British singer Jay Sean is at #95 with "So High"; he's been at #2 with "Down" in 2009...


The last entry this week is by dance-pop singer Elen Levon from Sydney, with her third charting single "Dancing To The Same Song". She took "Naughty" to #60 last year...
