Aussie Sweep: October 17, 2012...


Hey gang, it's time to check out the latest song making their way on to the official sales chart in Australia this week. PSY commands the #1 position for a third week with "Gangnam Style"...

The top debut this week is Adele who rockets in at #5 with her theme to the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall. I caught the 60 Minutes interview with Daniel Craig and the producers and I'm so psyched to see this in the theaters (there are few movies I say that for these days). Adele has one previous #1 hit here, "Someone Like You"...

American singer/songwriter Bruno Mars jumps in at #20 with the first single from his upcoming sophomore album, "Locked Out Of Heaven". His first two singles, "Just The Way You Are" and "Grenade", topped the chart here in 2010...



Taylor Swift's fourth preview track from her upcoming Red album, "I Knew You Were Trouble" arrives at #24. All of them have made the top-30.



Australian X Factor winner Reece Mastin lands his fourth hit at #31, "Rock Star". Since his win last year, he's hit #1 twice, with "Good Night" and "Shout It Out"...


Alternative rockers Birds of Tokyo are from the western city of Perth, and their song "This Fire" comes in at #32. Their song "Plans" made it to #11 in 2010...


Rapper Kid Cudi debuts at #53 with "Just What I Am" featuring King Chip. He made it all the way to #3 on David Guetta's "Memories" in 2010...


One notch below the Kid is British singer Ellie Goulding, with her latest, "Anything Could Happen" at #54....


 San Cisco is an indie-pop band from another western city, Freemantle, and their single "Wild Things" comes in at #57...


British electronica duo Disclosure see their first single "Latch" debut at #62..


 House music act the Aston Shuffle, from Australia's capital city of Canberra, come in with "Can't Stop Now" at #70. Two years ago they took "Your Love" to #67...


This week's only X Factor-related single to make the chart is by South Africa-born Nathaniel Willemse, who moved to the country as a child, and now is in the over-25 category. His cover of "The Scientist" by Coldplay comes in at #75. The original made the top-40 here in 2002, and actually returns to the chart at #61 this week...


Actors Chris Rock and Danny Jacobs, who provide the voices for two of the characters in the kids movie Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted, find themselves with a chart hit as a track from the soundtrack, "Afro Circus/I Like To Move It" pops in at #76..


British Bieberite Conor Maynard scores his third hit single in Australia as "Turn Around" featuring Ne-Yo arrives at #79. His debut song "Can't Say No" went to #38 earlier this year...


Haitian-American dance artist Qwote enters at #83 with "Letting Go (Cry Just A Little)" featuring rapper Pitbull, another interpolation of the old Brenda Russell tune "Piano In The Dark"...


The final entry is by American hip-hop singer/rapper Frank Ocean, with a track off of his amazing album Channel Orange, "Lost".
