French Sweep: September 25, 2012...


Bonjour, gang, it's time for a sample of the new songs selling in France last week, according to their official music chart. This week Carly Rae Jepsen defies odds and spends an eleventh week at #1 with "Call Me Maybe".

The highest debut this week at #32 is by French DJ/producer David Guetta, with the thirteenth song from either version of his Nothing But The Beat (original and 2.0 version) album. It features singers Akon and Ne-Yo, and it samples the 90's Alice Deejay dance hit "Better Off Alone"...

Jumping in at #50 is French dancehall pop artist Colonel Reyel, who topped the chart here twice last year, with "Celui" and "Toutes Les Nuits".  His latest is "Toi et Moi" ("You & I")...


At #63 is Parisian rap group Sexion D'Assaut, who had three top-5 hits this year so far, with "Avant Qu'elle Parte" spent nine weeks at #3. Their newest single from their excellent L'Apogee album is "J'Reste Debout" ("I'm Still Standing")


English indie-pop band the xx have their second top-100 hit in France with "Sunset" from their awesome new set Coexist...


American rappers Kanye West, Jay-Z and Big Sean come together at #78 with "Clique". West's biggest here was supporting Estelle on her #3 hit "American Boy", while Jay-Z's biggest was his collab with Linkin Park on the #5 "Numb/Encore".


French electronica artist Wax Tailor is at #81 with "Heart Stop", featuring American vocalist Jennifer Charles of the New York group Elysian Fields. Tailor previously hit #25 with "This Train"...


Rapper/singer/American Idol judge Nicki Minaj pops in at #89 with an album track off her latest, "Masquerade". Her biggest hit as a lead artist so far is the #5 "Starships"...


Algerian singer Kenza Farah has seen two of her single make #11 ("Je Me Bats (I Fight)" and "La Ou Tu Vas (Where You're Going)"). Her latest, "Coup de cœur (Heartbreak)" featuring rapper Soprano enters at #94...
