French Sweep: September 18, 2012...






Good afternoon, it's time for a gander at this week's new music selling in France, according to their official charts. Carly Rae Jepsen will not let go of the top spot as she stays at #1 for a tenth week with "Call Me Maybe".

The top entry this week is by American rapper Flo Rida, with "I Cry", the fifth single from his Wild Ones album. He's had two singles ("Right Round" and "Whistle") make it to #2, It samples the rave hit "Cry (Just A Little)" by Bingo Players which interpolates the 80's adult soul hit "Piano In The Dark" by Brenda Russell...

Debuting at #52 is French singer M, whose name is Matthieu Chadid, with his song "Mojo". He shared a top-10 hit last year with Vanessa Paradis on "La Seine"..



At #57 is American R&B singer/songwriter Alicia Keys, with her latest single "Girl On Fire", featuring Nicki Minaj. Keys' best showing in France has been a pair of #5 hits, "Fallin'" in 2001 and "No One" in 2007...


Electro-dance act Major Lazer have their first French hit at #59 with "Get Free" featuring singer Amber Coffman of the Brooklyn indie band Dirty Projectors...


French model and actress Lou Doillon also scores her first hit with "I,C.U." at #69...


Northern Irish rockers Two Door Cinema Club come in at #74 with their first French hit "Sun"...


French DJ/dance act C2C jumps into their top-10 with "Down The Road" this week, and the followup, "Happy", featuring Derek Martin, pops in at #75...


French singer Marc Lavoine has been having hits here in France since 1985, and in 2001 he reached #1 with "J'ai Tout Oblie'" ("I Forgot Everything"). He returns at #89 with "Je Descends du Singe" ("I evolve from monkeys")...


...and jumping in at #97 and definitely going higher soon is the worldwide K-Pop sensation Psy with his South Korean swag anthem, "Gangnam Style". Need I say anymore? Just go with it...


..and lastly, Belgian orchestral pop group Venus has their first hit with "Beautiful Days"...
