Album Sweep: September 29, 2012 - Part Two...

Hey gang, it's time for the second half of this week's "album sweep", sampling the latest records making the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. You can check out part one by clicking here, and like before I've included links to buy anything you see on Amazon.mp3.

Debuting at #60 is R&B group Mint Condition, who had a top-10 pop hit in 1992 with "Breaking My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)", but whose two highest-ranked album was their last one in 2001, 7. Their new set Music @ The Speed Of Life includes the new single "Believe In Us" which is in the top-20 of the adult R&B radio chart...

Californian post-grunge rock band Hoobastank scored a top-3 album back in 2003 with The Reason, and after a three-year break they're back with their fifth major-label studio set, Fight Or Flight...


Alt-country group Calexico get their highest chart rank to date with their latest, Algiers at #72...


The Gaither Vocal Band have seen a dozen of their gospel albums reach the top-200, and their thirteenth, Pure And Simple, comes in at #63...


The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, led by the leader of the retro-blues-rock band The Black Crowes, see the second album they released this year come in at #98. It's called The Magic Door...


Another southern-rock veteran, Patterson Hood from the Drive-By Truckers, debuts at # 101 with his first set after leaving the group, Heat Lightning Rumbles In The Distance...


Danish indie-rock duo the Raveonettes have their sixth charting album in the US at #110 with Observator...


Canadian alt-rock group Billy Talent enter at #135 with their fifth major-label studio set, Dead Silence...


Singer/songwriter Chris Knight wrote the #2 country hit for Montgomery Gentry, "She Couldn't Change Me", and his latest album, Little Victories,  is his first to make the top-200...


Indie rock group the Helio Sequence hail from Beaverton, Oregon, and their first charting album at #159 is Negotiations...


At #161 is the South Korean singer/rapper not responsible for any "Gangnam Style", G-Dragon, with the EP One Of A Kind. Right now it's only digitally available on iTunes or on import CD...



Christian pastor Lee Strobel debuts at #162 with an Audiobook CD of The Invitation. Now I'm not sure why this is here, since I don't remember any other audiobook on the album chart, but whatevs, I'll just leave this one alone...

Pop-rock group Miggs come in at #163 with their latest, 15th and Hope. They've opened for Maroon 5 before, and their new set was produced by Phil Ramone (Billy Joel's go-to guy)...


Tennessee indie-rockers Paper Route arrive at #164 with The Peace Of Wild Things...


 Lastly, country singer and American Idol finalist Bucky Covington's second full-length album Good Guys debuts at #177. His first self-titled disc from five years ago was a #1 country/#4 top-200 album..


That does it for this second half; out of these my fave picks are the Miggs, Paper Route, and Raveonettes sets...
