The highest debut this week here belongs to George Michael, who's performance of his "White Light" at the closing ceremonies of the London Olympics a little over a week ago catapult his single to #21. Michael had previously had ten top-10 hits in Germany including his Wham! days, lastly in 2002 with "Freeek!"...

Another beneficiary of the closing ceremonies, Scottish singer Emeli Sande', comes in at #34 with her "Read All About It, Pt. 3", her first hit here...(mind you there's no official clip, this is a "fanmade" video)

Jamaican-American reggae singer/rapper Shaggy has topped the charts in Germany twice, with 2001's "Angel", and then again seven years later with the Euro 2008 football hit "Feel The Rush". He's back at #40 with a rework of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", featuring rapper/actress Eve, who had a top-5 hit of her own in 2001 with "Let Me Blow Your Mind"...

Brazilian sertanejo singer Michel Telo follows up his #1 hit "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" with "Bara Bara" at #42. A version of the Bahian folk song done by Alex Ferrari is currently #1 in France...

Northern Italian-born Daniele Negroni was a runner-up on Deutschland sucht den Superstar, Germany's version of American Idol, and from that success he has had a top-3 hit here with "Don't Think About Me" earlier this year. He returns at #45 with "I Like It Hot"...

Austrian trance duo Klangkarussel ("Sound Carousel") enter at #53 with the song "Sonnentanz" ("Summer Dance")...

German coverband Audiogroove debut at #67 with their version of Lykke Li's former German #1 "I Follow Rivers"...

Finally at #77 is Canadian alt-rock band Billy Talent with "Surprise Surprise". They have scored a #1 album here, as well as a top-20 single in 2009 with "Rusted From The Rain".

That does it for this week...please come back tomorrow for the song of the day, candletime, 6 of the 60s, and this week's "Aussie Sweep" with the newest music down under...
