Kraut Sweep: August 21, 2012...

Thanks for dropping by, it's time for this week's "Kraut Sweep", where I take a look at the new music selling in Germany from their official charts. This week Asaf Avidan takes over the #1 spot with "One Day/Reckoning Song".

The highest entry belongs to Max Herre, who was part of the German hiphop group Fruendeskreis, who debuts all the way up at #6 with "Wolke 7" ("Cloud 7"), featuring vocalist Philipp Poisel, and accompanied by a very cinematic video clip...

The duo have scored four #1 singles in Germany, including the iconic remake of the Village People's "Go West"...they come in at #60..

American R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo's biggest hit so far as a lead artist has been 2008's "Closer", and he's back at #61 with the epic "Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)"...

American rapper 50 cent has topped the German pop chart twice, with "In Da Club" and "Candy Shop". He's back at #92 with "New Day" featuring Alicia Keys...

German country/hip-hop hybrid BossHoss had a top-10 with a song I raved over, "Don't Gimme That", last year. They also are judges on Germany's version of The Voice. Their latest at #98 is "Live It Up"...they're like a German twangy version of Right Said Fred, no?

That's it for this week, stay tuned tomorrow for 6 of the 60s, and then later on the latest down under on Aussie Sweep...

Danke Schoen!
