French Sweep: August 28, 2012...

Bonjour, folks, it's time to check out the new music selling over in France this week, courtesy of their official charts. This week Brazilian singer Alex Ferrari grabs the #1 spot with his sertanejo hit "Bara Bara Bere Bere"...

The high debut this week belongs to French DJ David Guetta, who surprisingly only has topped the charts in his home country twice, with "Gettin' Over You" in 2010 and his collaboration with Snoop Dogg the same year with "Sweat". On his new one, Chris Brown provides the vocals, and he's been in the top-10 once, supporting Pitbull on "International Love"; Lil' Wayne cameos with a rap, and he's hit the top-20 twice, with 2008's "I'm So Paid" with Akon his biggest. "I Can Only Imagine" debuts at #65...

I'm not sure why, but John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" comes on to the chart at #67. It wasn't in the Olympics as far as I remember, so maybe it was in an ad or on a singing competition. His "Imagine" was his only other single to chart in France, and it made it up to #9 in 1994.

One song that did get exposure at the closing ceremonies was Scottish singer Emeli Sande's "Read All About It Pt. 3", which debuts at #88. She took "Next To Me" into the French top-20 earlier this year...

Girl group Nossa comes on to the list at #93 with a remake of the Sergio Mendes classic "Mas Que Nada"...

Finally, British singer Ellie Goulding enters at #97 with her worldwide hit "Lights"...

That wraps it up for this installment, check back later on tonight when I'll bring you the latest from Germany. Au revoir!
