Aussie Sweep: August 8, 2012...

G'day mates! It's time for Aussie Sweep and a look at the new music selling down under. This week in Australia, home-grown talent the Justice Crew (winners of Australia's Got Talent in the 2010 season) make it to #1 with "Boom Boom"...

The highest entry this week at #11 is Scottish DJ/producer Calvin Harris, who is back with the fourth single from his yet-untitled CD, which already boasts a pair of Aussie top-10 hits with "Bounce" and "Feel So Close". This time out the singing is handled by Britain's Example, who had a top-20 and platinum-selling single here last year with "Changed The Way You Kiss Me". Here's "We'll Be Coming Back" (already a #2 hit in the UK)...

Twin sister rocker duo the Veronicas, from Brisbane, have had seven top-10 hits so far here, including the #1 "Hook Me Up" in 2007. They're back after a four-year break with a preview of their upcoming album Life On Mars album, "Lolita", at #29...

Boulder, Colorado-based electro-pop duo 3OH!3 placed their "Don't Trust Me" at #3 in Australia in 2009, and now the first single from their upcoming album Omens, "You're Gonna Love This", comes in at #32...

Melbourne rapper 360 also had a #3 hit with his "Boys Like You" earlier this year, and he's back at #56 with "Run Alone"..

British singer Birdy gets her second charting single down under with her sublime version of Cherry Ghost's "People Help The People", a song that went top-5 in Belgium and the Netherlands...

At #81 is Tampa, Florida-based Christian rapper with "No Stopping Me" (Australia is one of the few places outside the US where English-language Christian music is pretty big)...

Lastly, rapper/producer Timbaland and singer Ne-Yo team up for a song from the Step Up: Revolution movie, "Hands In The Air" at #83. Timbaland's gone to #1 as a lead artist twice here, with "The Way I Are" (with Keri Hilson and DOE) and "Apologize" (with OneRepublic)...

That's it for now...stay tuned tomorrow for more 7 of the 70s, and 8 of the 80s, and everyday's Song of the Day....good night!
