twostepcub's music chart for March 30, 2012...

Hey folks, it's time for my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Gotye and Kimbra spend a fourth week at the top, while David Guetta and Nicki Minaj (pictured above) take over the runnerup spot. Former big hits by Martina McBride, Taio Cruz, Chris Young, and David Guetta drop off my list, while tracks by Adele, Flo Rida, and Tim McGraw make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artist names to go to their official website. Now pass the Golden Bags!

Just like last week, there are a baker's dozen of new songs on my chart (highlighted in yellow), and here they are, along with a little about the artists, with links to their earlier hits on video in orange...

The highest entry is the second revision of the classic R&B track "Respect" on my list this week. This version is by X Factor USA inaugural season's winner, Melanie Amaro, who won a 5 million dollar recording contract out of the gig. "Respect" has so far not been a "factor" on the pop chart, but it has scaled the dance chart into the top-3. Here's Melanie giving Elton John the what for...

British rock superband of the moment Coldplay follow up three top-20 singles from their latest CD Mylo Xyloto ("Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall", "Paradise", and "Princess Of China") with a tune inspired by the theme from the comic Peanuts, appropriately titled "Charlie Brown"...

Singer/songwriter/lothario John Mayer is back with a new upcoming CD Born And Raised, but he had to cancel his tour due to throat trouble. He's scored seven top-20 pop hits in the US, including the Grammy-winning #1 adult-pop hit "Daughters". His latest is "Shadow Days"...

Meanwhile, 79-year old Yoko Ono proves again why she's the Betty White of club music as she places her twelfth top-10 dance hit on Billboard's chart with a song hoping to match the #1 success of "Every Man Has A Woman" and "Give Me Something". It's a remix of a track from her 1981 album Season Of Glass, that already has produced two #1 remix hits, "No, No, No" and "Walking On Thin Ice". Here's "She Gets Down on Her Knees"...

French Alt-electro band M83's year-old single "Midnight City" finally gains momentum in the States, becoming their first top-10 Modern Rock hit, and after making a bunch of year-end "Best-of" lists last year, well-deserved..

Kenny Dope (Gonzalez) parlays his legendary status as part of the seminal house remixing duo Masters At Work for a comeback single with singer Josh Milan on "Be Your Freak"...

Irish rock group the Script follow two top-40 hits ("For The First Time" and "Nothing") with the top-30 adult-pop track "If You Ever Come Back"...

Canadian emo-rapper Drake puts his third song from his sophomore CD (after "Make Me Proud" and "The Motto") with a house music-inspired title track featuring Rihanna, "Take Care"...

Country-rock singer Brantley Gilbert follows his charttopping debut "Country Must Be Countrywide" with a song from the reissued version of his CD. Here's "You Don't Know Her Like I Do"...

Staying on the country-rock vein, Eric Church succeeds his first #1 country hit "Drink In My Hand" with a song named for a New Jersey rocker who just had a #1 album of his own. It's "Springsteen"....

French DJ Bob Sinclar was the "David Guetta" of the Naughties, with two #1 US dance hits in "Love Generation" and "World Hold On". He's back with some help from the hard-to-avoid Pitbull and American DJ Fatman Scoop on "Rock The Boat"...

British R&B girlgroup Stooshe have their first big UK hit with a song featuring Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy of "Billionaire" fame (which I'm not tonight) on "Love Me"...

The last debut is from German band Unheilig, who led by singer "Der Graf" had one of the biggest songs in their homeland last year with "Geboren Um Zu Leben (Born To Live)". Over the holidays the group's "Winter" made my chart as well. Their latest is "So Wie Du Warst (Just As You Were)"...

Damn! no megamillions for me! Oh well ...
