There are ten new songs on my chart (highlighted in yellow), and here they are, along with a little about the artists and some links to their previous hits (highlighted in orange).

The highest debut this week comes from a singer that had one of the biggest hits of 2008. After winning the third season of Britain's X Factor, Leona Lewis was the franchise's hottest commodity after scoring a four-week #1 US hit with "Bleeding Love". She followed that with one more top-20 US hit "Better In Time", while in England she procured one more charttopper with her excellent version of Snow Patrol's "Run". After a less successful sophomore CD that produced one UK #2/US top 40 hit "Happy", Leona is back two years later with a song that gets it's production cribbing the Swedish dance act Avicii's "Fade Into Darkness" that they sued to settlement where they are billed as co-act on the record. Here they are with "Collide"...

Dance singer Luciana (Caporaso) had minor chart success in her native England in the 90's, and at the middle of the last decade had revived her career with the #2 UK hit "Yeah Yeah" with group Bodyrox. She then conquered the US dance clubs, with two #1 dance hits, "I Like That" with Richard Vission, and recording as alter ego Isha Coco with Dave Aude on "Figure It Out". She's now in the dance top-3 with a song that just got released with an alternate version featuring none other than Betty White. Now Yoko Ono seems like a young'un! Here is the original video of "I'm Still Hot"...

The third British act in a row debuting is modern rock group The Joy Formidable. Their first hit single is the top-10 alt-rock "Whirring"...

Kelly Clarkson just dropped off my list supporting Jason Aldean on the former multiformat smash "Don't You Wanna Stay", although she replaces that with her new solo single. The former American Idol winner is now on her fifth CD, which highlights a career with two US #1 singles, the double-side hit "A Moment Like This" / "Before Your Love", and "My Life Would Suck Without You". Her new hit is "Mr. Know It All"...

British rapper/singer Example follows up his biggest single to date "Changed The Way You Kiss Me" with his second UK #1 in "Stay Awake" which sounds just as Information Society-ish (and that's a compliment)...

Spanish DJ Sak Noel is enjoying a pan-European dance smash with his first hit single, "Loca People", which is not only a top-5 global dance hit, but a top-10 single in at least eleven Euro countries with #1 in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands. I'm sure it's only time before it hits the states...

Country group Rascal Flatts were the country group to beat in the last decade, accumulating eleven #1 country hits including my favorites "What Hurts The Most" and "Take Me There". On their third single from their latest CD Nothing Like This, the trio gets help from British vocalist Natasha Bedingfield, who has her first country hit after a career sporting two top-5 US hits in "These Words" and "Pocketful Of Sunshine". Here they are with "Easy"...

I really must be on an Anglophil kick, because here's another British debut, this time the folk-pop singer Ed Sheeran, who was last seen here with the sublime UK top-5 hit "A Team". He's back with another top-5'er which sounds completely stylistically different from that song, and more Jason Mraz-ish "You Need Me, I Don't Need You"....

Dancehall lothario Sean Paul was a powerhouse in the naughties, scoring the #1 hit "Get Busy", and then three top-10 hits from his next CD including his second #1 "Temperature". He also supporting Beyonce on a third #1, "Baby Boy". The Jamaican is back with backup from teen singer Alexis Jordan, who just had two big hits in the US dance chart, "Happiness" and "Good Girl". Their collab isn't yet getting love in the states, though it's a top-10 hit in Germany, France, Holland, and #1 in Switzerland. Here's "Got 2 Luv U"...

The final debut is by (surprise) another Englishman, this time Marlon Roudette, who is one half of the brit-rap duo Mattafix. They had a big hit in 2005 with "Big City Life", which hit #1 in Austria, Germany, New Zealand, and Switzerland (and top-15 in the UK). Marlon is back with a solo record that surprisingly isn't even marketed in England, but rather is a huge hit in the Germanic countries, spending three weeks at the top in Germany alone. Not bad for a English-language hit. Here's "New Age"...

You can't make me go!!!!!

100. All Time Low - The Wanted (RE-ENTRY)

There are seven new songs on my list (highlighted in yellow), and here they are with a little background on the artists. I linked YouTube videos of their previous hits in orange. Here we go...

The highest debut this week is the return of post-grunge rock outfit Bush, still fronted by Gavin Rossdale and including original drummer Robin Goodridge, but with two new members. Back in the 90's the group scored ten top-10 modern rock hits, with four charttoppers - "Comedown", "Glycerine", "Swallowed", and "The Chemicals Between Us". In the last decade, Rossdale had been busier concentrating on his acting career (an excellent turn in Constantine) and family life with wife Gwen Stefani. He also released a solo album with a big adult-pop hit in "Love Remains The Same" four years ago. Now, the band is readying their first CD in a decade, and the first single here is "The Sound Of Winter". Fun Fact: in the 80s, Rossdale was in a relationship with Boy George's trans friend/recording artist Marilyn (the other one in the "Band Aid" video)...

Next up is Lady GaGa, who has been a constant prescence on my list since her debut single "Just Dance" in 2008 (BTW, where has Colby O'Donis been since then?). With all her singles she's hit the #1 position on the US pop chart only two more times so far - her JD followup "Poker Face" and last year's "Born This Way". Her fourth single from Born This Way is the Mutt Lange produced "You & I", which I feel Mother Monster channeling quite a bit of Shania Twain. And the video makes up for the simplicity of "Edge Of Glory" in it's way-over-the-top epicness.

Simon Cowell's X Factor finally debuts this week, while two of his most successful proteges debut of my chart. The first was the runner-up to the show's sixth season, being eat by the eunich-like Joe McElderry two years ago. After that Murs proved to outsell the other by quite a bit, having three UK top-40 hits, including the #1 "Please Don't Let Me Go" and the #4 "Thinking Of Me", both great songs considering. The first single from his sophomore CD features British rap duo Rizzle Kicks, who have placed a top-10 hits of their own in "Down With The Trumpets", with a song that's now his second English charttopper, "Heart Skips A Beat"...

Gordy family act LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" is still hanging in the top-10 , and is in the race to being one of the biggest hits of this year. Their followup on the radio is "Sexy And I Know It", but in the clubs, the duo is jamming with "Champagne Showers", featuring singer Natalia Kills, who can boast a top-10 club hit with "Mirrors" that also made top-10 in Germany, Austria, and Poland...

Rock band O.A.R., or "Of A Revolution", are from Rockville, Maryland, and have hit with five top-30 singles on adult pop since 2003, including the #2 Platinum single "Shattered (Turn The Car Around)" and the gold single "Love And Memories". They are back with "Heaven"...

The other Cowell act to debut this week was his first. Back when he started Pop Idol in the UK in 2002, Will Young was the winner of that first season, and since then has sold over eight million records worldwide, which proves that even 'coming out' can lead to a fruitful career (no pun intended). His first three singles were British number-one hits: the 'winner's song' "Anything Is Possible", and his covers of the Doors' "Light My Fire" and the Beatles' "The Long And Winding Road" with runner-up Gareth Gates. His second CD gave him a fourth #1 in "Leave Right Now", which was his sole (minor) hit in the US after performing on American Idol. He's back with a #1 CD and first top-5 hit in his homeland in 5 years, here's "Jealousy"...

The final new entry is by Scottish producer/singer Calvin Harris. His biggest success so far was the 2009 British charttopping single "I'm Not Alone". This year he scored a couple of UK #2 hits with "Bounce" (which falls off this week) and now the followup "Feels So Close"...

I need an extension...

There are 7 new songs on my list (highlighted in yellow), and the highest new entry is by DJ/Remixer Dave Aude. Best known for remixing a tons of other artists hits, Aude can claim three #1 dance club hits of his own - "Make It Last", "Grass Is Greener", and my personal favorite, "Figure It Out". His latest finds vocalist Elijah supporting him for "Holdin' On"...

Miranda Lambert's last CD Revolutions produced her three biggest hits, the #2 "White Liar" as well as country charttoppers "Heart Like Mine" and the Grammy-winning "The House That Built Me". Her first preview of her upcoming work is "Baggage Claim"...

Lebanese-born Mika currently calls England his home, and his biggest success chartwise has been in the UK, with five top-10 hits like my faves "Love Today" and "We Are Golden". However, these days after receiving the Knighthood for the Arts, he has a special place for his French fans, and his new single is the totally Francophile "Elle Me Dit" (She Tells Me)...

Cuban eye-candy Mayra Veronica graduates from her Univision gig and her second top-10 Billboard Dance Club hit after "If You Wanna Fly" with the dirtier "Freak Like Me" featuring her plagiarizing "Womanizer" all over Antonio Sabato Jr...

Dev (aka Califonian Devin Tailes) already is climbing my list supporting JLS on "She Makes Me Wanna", her 2nd such gig after her US charttopping turn with the Far East Movement on "Like A G6". Earlier this year she snuck into the UK top-10 with "Bass Down Low", and now finally makes my list as a lead with "In The Dark"...

House singer Amoray has a top-40 dance hit earlier this year with "Jack It Out". With his followup he makes it all the way top-20 with "Give It"...

The final new entry is by British rapper Wretch 32, who follows his top-5 hits "Traktor" and "Unorthodox" with his first UK #1, "Don't Go", featuring vocalist Josh Kumra...

One more song re-enters my list, here's the Vegas-tastic clip for Calvin Harris' "Bounce" featuring Kelis...

Always remember...

This week sees a big turnaround, with a dozen new songs (highlighted in yellow) and three re-entries on my list. Here are the debuts, with a little about the artists and links to their previous hits in orange.

The highest new, well, not-so new song is by my all-time favorite music group, Depeche Mode. Formed in the late 70s in the southeast English town of Basildon, the proto-newwavers first hit the top-10 in their homeland in 1981 with the classic "Just Can't Get Enough", written by then-member Vince Clarke (who later left to go on to forming Yaz and Erasure). Although extremely successful in the UK, the boys didn't get their big American break until 1990, and the US top-10 "Enjoy The Silence". This past year, the group released a collection of remixes of their hits, including this nugget off the Music For The Masses album. The original single version merged the song with the oldie "Route 66", but this year sees "Behind The Wheel 2011" remixed by none other than Vince Clarke...

Canadian rock outfit Theory Of A Deadman fill the void between Nickelback CDs with the first single from their latest CD, The Truth Is... Mind, their last CD charted eight songs on various charts, including the rock #1 stripper-anthem "Bad Girlfriend" and the #4 adult-pop "Not Meant To Be". Here's their white-trashy clip featuring actor Donal Logue, "Lowlife"...

After spending over a year on the Billboard rock chart with "Savior" in 2009, Chicagoans Rise Against had their highest-charting rock hit earlier this year with the New Orleans homage "Help Is On The Way", and now follow it up with a track with a video dealing with sexual identity, bullying, and suicide in an amazingly frank and honest way. Here's "Make It Stop (September's Children)"...

Next up is Swiss DJ Antoine (Konrad), who is based in the town of Basel, where the countries of Switzerland, France, and Germany meet. Two years ago he scored a global dance hit that found play on some US club stations, "Underneath". This time he goes on vacation, with a little help from Russian rapper Tamati and American singer Kalenna, who is 1/2 of Sean Combs' latest project Diddy-Dirty Money, who placed their biggest hit this year with "Coming Home". Their collaboration has made the top-10 in all three of his hometown's bordering countries, as well as Austria, and it's "Welcome To St. Tropez"...

Country singer Jerrod Niemann has his third hit following the #1 "Lover, Lover" and top-5 "What Do you Want" with a song I can really relate to right now, "One More Drinkin' Song"...

Taylor Swift's latest CD, Speak Now, has put five previous songs on my list, including "Mine" and "Mean" that both peaked in the runner-up spot on Billboard's Country chart. "Sparks Fly" makes her sixth, and it includes footage from her latest concert tour.

Massachussetts rock band Staind have scored four number-one hits on either the mainstream or alternative rock charts, including two that did both, the also-pop-top-5 "It's Been Awhile" in 2001 and "So Far Away" two years later. Aaron Lewis and the guys are back (with a new drummer) for "Not Again"...

After being the featured vocalist on two UK top-10 hits by rap artists, "Diamond Rings" with Chipmunk and "Never Be Your Woman" with Wiley Scottish electronica artist Emeli Sande has her first lead-act UK top-10 hit with "Heaven"...

There are two "Inna"'s on my list this week, and the first is Inna Modja from the West African country of Mali, the site of the original "Timbuktu". Her first hit is a top-5 smash in France, and is a half-English, half-French slice of retro heaven. Here's "French Cancan (Monsieur Sante Nitouche)"

London electronica duo Nero have had a good year - they've already had two UK top-20 hits with "Me and You" and "Guilt" (which made #8 a couple months ago). Now they can boast both a #1 CD in Britain and their first #1, "Promises"...

Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. Deadmau5, was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, which I can imagine would be a wonderful place visually to be a child in. He's had three #1 dance airplay hits in the US, "Move For Me" and "I Remember" (with Kaskade), and "Ghosts N Stuff". He is back with "Raise Your Weapon"...

The last new song is by country singer-songwriter Brantley Gilbert, who co-wrote Jason Aldean's #1 country hit (and top-10 pop hit) "Dirt Road Anthem". His latest CD Halfway To Heaven includes his original version with country-rapper Colt Ford, as well as his first hit of his own, "Country Must Be Countrywide"...

Three songs also re-enter my list, starting with a track that grazed my chart for one week when it was a British top-3 hit. Now it's become her first US top-40 as a lead act, and it's ex-Pussycat Doll and future X-Factor judge Nicole Scherzinger with "Right There" with rapper 50 Cent...

Eclectic rock outfir AWOLnation returns with "Sail"...

and finally, returning for a third run is Romanian dance artist Inna (yes, the other Inna) with "Sun Is Up"...

Happy Labor Day, everyone!
