twostepcub's music chart for October 14, 2011...

Hey guys, I was all set to post last weekend, but a horrendous cold took me out for a week, so time to catch up with my top-100 tunes for last week. Adele spends a second #1 week, while the trio of David Guetta, Taio Cruz, and Ludacris (pictured above) jump into the top-10. Former big hits by Billy Currington, Ledisi, Theory of A Deadman, and Brad Paisley drop off my list, while tracks by Sak Noel, Gloria Estefan, and Lady GaGa make the biggest moves (jumps of 10+ places highlighted in red). There are eight new songs on my list (highlighted in yellow), and here they are, with a little about the artists with links to their earlier work (via YouTube) in orange....

The highest debut belongs to Jessica Sutta, who was in the Pussycat Dolls until the beginning of 2010 (along with Nicole Scherzinger, who just drops off my chart this week). Before that, Sutta had guested on a couple big dance club hits, Dave Aude's #1 "Make It Last" and Paul Van Dyk's "White Lies". She now has her first lead artist hit with "Show Me"...

British chanteuse Natasha Bedingfield now has two guesting spots on my list this week, as Rascal Flatts' "Easy" is joined by Canadian rock band Simple Plan's "Jet Lag". Simple Plan, from Montreal, Quebec, scored two top-40 hits in the early naughties with "Perfect" and "Welcome To My Life". Their latest is "Jet Lag"...

Rihanna pulls another hat trick, placing a third song on my list, all from her latest CD Loud. (Her upcoming single "We Found Love" is "bubbling under" and will see on here soon.) Along with the ballad/club hit "California King Bed" and the dark "Man Down" which was a #1 French hit, comes a song that has become the 19th of her 20 US Billboard Hot 100 top-10 songs so far. It's co-written by Avril Lavigne, who also is shown in the music clip for "Cheers (Drink To That)"...

Jason Derulo had three straight top-10 hits off the bat with the US #1 "Whatcha Say", "In My Head", and "Ridin' Solo", all from his debut CD. His followup now has two top-20's , following up the Robin S./Harry Belafonte sampling "Don't Wanna Go Home" with "It Girl"...

Darius Rucker has solidified his standing in country music with five #1 singles like "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" and last year's "This". He's back with the third single from his sophomore country effort, "I Got Nothin'"...

Cuban club-style rapper Pitbull supported Jennifer Lopez on her insanely successful single "On The Floor", and now he returns with Lopez' soon to be ex-husband Marc Anthony on "Rain On Me", giving Anthony his first hit since his double top-10 whammy from a dozen years ago, "I Need To Know" and "You Sang To Me"...

Jason Aldean is now the A-list in country music, having the biggest country CD so far this year, producing the big crossover hit "Don't You Wanna Stay". Along with that blockbuster, Jason's had six country charttoppers including "Why" from 2005 and "The Truth" from 2009. He's back with the fourth single from his latest CD, "Tattoos On This Town"...

The last new entry is by English singer-rapper Dappy. Born Costadinos Contostavlos in London of Greek heritage, Dappy is the lead singer of grime act N-Dubz, who had a UK top-5 hit with "I Need You". Along with that, Dappy has even had more success guesting on two British #1 singles, Tinchy Stryder's "Number 1" (with his group) and "Spaceship" (solo). Now he has a lead artist #1 to boast, with "No Regrets"....

And as a bonus here's one the three songs re-entering, the collective DJ mix starring Morgan Page are back with "In The Air"...

Cough drop, please!
