twostepcub's music chart for April 22, 2011...

Hey folks, it's almost Easter Sunday, and time for my top tunes for the week. This week The Zac Brown Band stick around at #1 for a second week, while rockers Rise Against (pictured above) make it into the top-10. Former big hits by Lady Antebellum, Far East Movement, Rihanna, David Guetta, and Ke$ha drop out, while tracks by Sultan and Ned Shepard, Marsha Ambrosius, and Katy Perry make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). Link-O-Rama is still in full effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artists to go to their website. Hip a-hip-ahoppity!

This week sees nine new songs on my list (highlighted in yellow), and the highest debut is by the duo LMFAO, which consists of uncle and nephew Stefan and Skyler Gordy (yes, that Gordy, making them offspring of Motown's Berry Gordy). Renaming themselves Redfoo and Skyblu, they were last on my chart supporting French DJ David Guetta with his worldwide dance hit "Gettin' Over You" last year. The Gordy boys also had a top-10 hit in the UK the year before with "I'm In Miami, Trick". Their latest is my so-far dance jam of the spring, for good reason. It's hook of death and help from Paradiso Girl Lauren Bennett (who charted top-3 dance with "Patron Tequila") and rapper Goonrock is a welcome smilegetter. Even when dealing with the apocalypse, as in the video for "Party Rock Anthem"...

The next song is one of those hits that's charting in two different versions. Both incorporate a song by the Belgian gypsy-jazz group Vaya Con Dios. That song, "Nah Neh Nah" was a top-10 hit in the Netherlands, but only a minor hit in a couple countries (Austria and Switzerland top-30) and not even denting the chart in their homeland. This year, Italian DJ Rico Bernasconi has a top-20 hit so far on the US Dance chart, while the German duo of Milk & Sugar have a top-10 hit in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, and yes Belgium. Both versions are taking the traditional track in a "We Don't Speak Americano" direction, and it's ironic Bernusconi's version is getting the American play, since Milk & Sugar have the history of a #1 dance hit in the States already with a version of the 5th Dimension's "Let The Sunshine In". So here's both versions - Rico Bernasconi's clubby sampled version

and here's the more poppier Milk and Sugar version..

Cee-Lo Green's "Fuck You" has got staying power, still in my top-3 and so far the biggest-selling single of this year as yet. Following that up, the "Lady-killer" cribs Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"'s bass and chords for his latest (and my CD favorite of his), "Bright Lights, Bigger City", which is now the biggest airplay hit in the UK right now.

It's a good week for Belgium on my list, as Vaya Con Dios is joined by singer/songwriter Milow, who had a hit a couple years ago with a cover of 50 Cent & Justin Timberlake's "Ayo Technology". The man born Jonathan Vandenbroeck is back with an original song and a cute one-take video for "You and Me (In My Pocket)", and it has a nice 90's indie-rock feel to it.

Chris Brown was just turning 16 when he had his first US #1 single, "Run It" in 2005. He scored with one more charttopper, "Kiss Kiss", two years later. Something kind of happened after that. Well, in the true American bad-boys-are fun tradition, Brown is back with a #1 CD and six songs from it that have made the Billboard Hot 100, including the worldwide hit "Yeah 3x". The possible seventh is already a top-10 dance hit, and recruits Italian DJ Benny Benassi, who had a UK #2 hit with the robotic "Satisfaction", and a US club top-5 hit with the more soulful "Illusion". The two further the dance path set by "Yeah 3x" with "Beautiful People"...

Next is another DJ, this time like Milk & Sugar, from Germany, Kris Menace (real name: Christopher Hoeffel). Kris was more known as a remixer (recently he put out a great remix of Kylie's "Get Outta My Way", but now has his first hit on his own, well, with singer Emil, with "Walking On The Moon"...

Alt-metal band Stone Sour are back with the second hit from their latest CD Audio Secrecy, which produced one of their two #1 rock hits with "Say You'll Haunt Me" (their other is 2006's "Through Glass"). Lead singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root still do double duty in the shock-rock group Slipknot as well, but Stone Sour is much more traditional, and much better on my ears. Here's their latest, a ballad that is finding a home on adult pop radio, "Hesitate"...

British singer Katy B (for Brien) is another alum of the BRIT school, where Adele and Jessie J also attended. She has had 2 previous top-10 hits in the UK, "Katy On A Mission" and "Lights On", the latter also making my list. Her hat trick top-10 is the equally danceable "Broken Record"....

The final entry is by Justin Moore, who had a #1 country hit in 2009 with "Small Town USA". He previews his sophomore effort with a song already in the country top-20, here's "If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away"...

I want an Easter egg, I want an Easter Egg!
