twostepcub's music chart for March 11, 2011...

Hey folks, sorry a little late, but it's time for my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Bruno Mars finally gives way to Florence + The Machine, while French DJ Martin Solveig (pictured above) moves up the top-10. Former big hits by Neon Trees, Keith Urban, and Shakira drop out, while songs by Lady GaGa, Rihanna, and Hannah makes the biggest jumps. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on any of the highlighted artists to go to the website for more info, tour dates, music, videos and more. Also I've included orange-marked links to classic clips from some of the debuting artists. Troutty mouth!

This week there are seven new songs on my list (highlighted in yellow), and the highest is by the artist with the biggest-selling CD in both America and England this year so far. Adele's first single from 21, "Rolling In The Deep", jumps into my top-10 this week, making her second top-10 on my chart following 2008's "Chasing Pavements". Her latest is my pick for song of the year, and it's the plaintive "Someone Like You"...

The next debut is by Californian Colbie Caillat, who has made the US Pop top-10 with "Bubbly" in 2007 and the Adult Top-40 #1 position with "Fallin' For You" two years later. The singer (who in my mind looks remarkably like a young Jennifer Aniston) is back with another breezy pop hit in "I Do"...

The next lady in this hat trick of adult-pop sirens is Sara Bareilles, who follows her excellent "King Of Anything" and top-5 pop hit "Love Song" with the equally fun song with a cameo-studded lipsynch video for "Uncharted". See if you can ID all the guests (some hints: Adam Levine of Maroon5, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, and Josh Groban)...

And now for something different....here's the mysterious dance act Mask Munkeys with their debut single "This Night"...

Aussie Zoe Badwi also has her debut single charting, which already is a top-10 hit in her home country, with "Free Fallin'"...

After all these new artists, longstanding country group Rascal Flatts stands out, with eleven #1 country hits from 2002's "These Days" to last year's "Why Wait". The followup to that latter song it the ballad "I Won't Let Go"...

and finally, English synth-pop duo Hurts harkens back to the golden age of British new wave of Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys, and Naked Eyes, and they reaped in success especially in Germany, where their "Wonderful Life" was one of the biggest songs of the year there, and their latest is following in the top-5 there. Here's "Stay"...

Hell to the no!
