This week eight new songs debut, and by far the highest is by French dance legend David Guetta, who is still in the top-10 with "Sexy Bitch". This time he pairs with English soul singer Estelle, of "American Boy" note, for the retro-disco thumper "One Love"...

Next is another dance powerhouse, Crystal Method, who have been on the US dance scene since 1996, with Emily Haines from the rock group Metric, with "Come Back Clean"...

Every year in Great Britain there's a race to see what song will sell enough to be the #1 Christmas song for the year. The last four years have been monopolized, for better or worse, by winners of Simon Cowell's "X Factor" singing competition. Well this year, thanks to a Facebook-led campaign, the 2009 winner (who will be coming up shortly) was outdone by a 17-year-old heavy metal rock track from American band Rage Against The Machine. It's the anti-establishment powerhouse "Killing In The Name", and I admit I was thrilled it won out (besides raising thousands of dollars for UK homeless charity Shelter).

Country star Gary Allan is back with the ballad "Today"...

And back to that UK Xmas single battle. The singer that lost out was Joe McElderry, who still debuted in the UK at #2 then hit #1 the week after, and still made my list with a cover of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb"...

Up now is R&B singer/songwriter Keri Hilson, who's latest is a #1 hit in Germany. Here's "I Like"...

Eric Hutchinson follows up his hit "Rock & Roll" with the rollicking "OK, It's Alright With Me"..

and finally, Blake Shelton previews his upcoming album with "Hillbilly Bone" with a little help from Trace Adkins...

And as a bonus, here's the clip from the awesome band the Gossip with their song that re-enters, "Heavy Cross"..

Cheers! and off to Vegas!

Next up is Jennifer Lopez, who brought in 2010 with a gold lame cameltoe nightmare. Here, she just brings rapper Pitbull with "Fresh Out The Oven"...

Soul crooner Jaheim is back with the smooth jam "Ain't Leaving Without You"...

Toronto native Simone Denny had her greatest success with the theme song from Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, "All Things Just Keep Getting Better". Her latest pairs her up with producer/remixer Barry Harris (Originally of Kon Kan and remix team Thunderpuss), for the new dance hit "Drama Queen"...

I didn't know there was a Trenton, Florida, but that's apparently where country singer Easton Corbin is from, and his first hit single is "A Little More Country Than That"..

The next debut is a former "Distant Shores Song of the Night", and it's Danish singer Aura Dione, with "I Will Love You Monday (365)"...

and finally Keith Urban is back in the dead of winter with "'Til Summer Comes Around"...

May 2010 bring you health and happiness...

Distant Shores Song for the night...how do you keep landing on your feet?

Tonight's DSS is by Some & Any, formed from two contestants who went on to win the eighth season of the German version of the Popstars singing competition/"reality" show. German Vanessa Meisinger and Brazilian/Swiss Leonardo Ritzmann have their first post-triumph single with "Last Man Standing", which has made the top-40 in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. It's very late 80's retro, so at least someone is there to take a-ha's place (without the high falsetto, of course).

Right now the only place I know to get "Last Man Standing is on German Amazon by clicking here.

To A New Decade....

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and a start to a hopefully optimistic new decade. I've resolved to be posting more (as I always promise), but as this truly makes me happy I'm going to concentrate on the things that make me happy.

Peace Out.
