twostepcub's music chart for October 22, 2010

Hey folks, it's time for my top 100 tunes for the week. This week Maroon 5 spend a third week at the top, while newlywed Katy Perry (pictured above) celebrates with a new song in the top-5. Former big hits by Billy Currington, Kelis, Scissor Sisters, Macy Gray, and Lady Gaga drop out, making this the first chart since I don't know when without a GaGa tune, while tracks by SNL guests Kings of Leon, Italian DJ Alex Guadino, and scarlet-topped Rihanna make the biggest jumps (moves more than ten places highlighted in red). Also, some classic videos by debuting artists are linked in the orange-highlighted spots below. Link-O-Rama to the websites of all of the top-100 artists and collaborators are there as well, just click on the name of any of the artists to go to their site for more information on them. Sheepheads? Really? For Christmas?

There are eight new songs on my list (marked in yellow), and the first is by an artist in my top-5 with "Dynamite", Taio Cruz. Taio has had a great last twelve months, including the song that hit number one in England as well as America, "Break Your Heart". This time he teams up with trash-disco siren Ke$ha for the third single from his US debut Rokstarr. Earlier this year this song made the top-10 in Britain, and now is hitting the dance clubs in the States. Here's "Dirty Picture"...

Next is the official Billboard #1 song in the US right now, and it's by Asian-American electro group Far East Movement. Members Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif, and DJ Virmin come from Koreatown in Los Angeles, and their debut album sports some heavy-hitter guests as Snoop Dogg, Keri Hilson, and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic (as well as an artist debuting this week, Mohombi). On this single they are backed by fellow Californians The Cataracs, and singer Dev, who all come together on the jam "Like A G6"...

English duo Ting Tings are another group with success on both sides of the Atlantic, with their ultra-cool "That's Not My Name" a number-one hit in the UK, and "Shut Up And Let Me Go" made it to the top of the American dance chart. Their latest is "Hands", and the retro-80's video can be seen (unembeddable) by clicking this link, but here's a clip of the audio...

Miranda Lambert is back with the latest hit from her third major-label CD Revolution, which produced her first number-1 country hit "The House That Built Me". Here's "Only Prettier"...

Glee's version of "Empire State Of Mind" drops out to make room for the top-selling song of the six released from its tribute to Brittany Spears. Here's the gang with "Toxic"..

Switchfoot, a Christian rock band from San Diego, had two top-20 pop hits with "Dare You To Move" and "Meant To Live" in the early Naughties. They now have two concurrent hits climbing my list, as modern-rock leaning "The Sound" is joined by the adult-pop hit "Your Love Is A Song".

Next up is Swedish-Congolese R&B/Hip-Hop artist Mohombi. He was born in Zaire, but since adolescence has been living in Stockholm, Sweden. His first hit has made the top ten in at least eight European countries including the Netherlands, where "Bumpy Ride" was a number-one hit...

Finally, we have another act from California, rock band Papa Roach, who have previously reached the top of the Alternative Rock chart with "Last Resort" ten years ago, and #1 mainstream rock with "Lifeline" last year. Their latest is "Kick In The Teeth"..

Gonna rock you like a rodeo!
