twostepcub's music chart for December 4, 2009...

And now, the reason for the previous post, my weekly chart of top tunes. Link-O-Rama is in for the debuts this week, I'll try to update the whole chart next week. I really appreciate everyone who comes here, and I'd love to hear your thoughts (well non-just-"this sucks" comments :-) ).

This week there are 14 songs that debut on my chart. What a week to come back!

The highest debut is by Jus Jack. Not the English musician who dabbles in the electronica field, Just Jack, but Jus Jack. He's a DJ from the New York club scene. Confusing, eh? Well JUS Jack's first single on my chart is a club filler featuring Phil Garant and Matina Parisi, and it reminds me of the deep house sound from the late 80's/early 90's. Here's "Smoke"...

From the other coast is Los Angeles-based DJ Morgan Page, who last year placed two songs on my list. "The Longest Road" featuring singer Lissie, which made my top-40, is nominated for a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording, announced this past week. How cool is that! Here is his latest single, "Fight For You"...

Now we hop a plane to the Netherlands, home of dance singer Esmee Denters, who came to fame with a series of YouTube covers of pop songs. Her first hit is an original, and co-written and co-produced by none other than Justin Timberlake. It has hit top-10 in Britain, Hungary, Croatia, and her home country, and has just done the same on the US Dance Club Play chart. Here's "Outta Here"...

Now for pairings I wouldn't have dreamed of, teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney (who's 22 actually) and the King of Auto-Tune, T-Pain. McCartney has proven his worth beyond the Disney crowd, penning Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" as well as racking up five US top-40 hits. This one is the latest, and its club remix has also made the top-10 in our country. Here's "Body Language"...

The Twilight juggernaut is still going strong, with the second movie installment New Moon making piles of money from wooed teens and their soccer-moms, and the soundtrack has produced another Alternative Rock hit (the first had Paramore's "Decode"). Fitting, since member Ben Girrard's side project, The Postal Service, has been cited (in a good and bad way) for resembling the music of top-20 artist Owl City. Here's "Meet Me On The Equinox"...

Lolene is an electro-dance singer from California, and her first song is a Lady GaGa-esque jam called "Sexy People". There's a real Mary Jane Girls/Sheila E groove to this I like..and her blog is called the Disco Vagina Blog...how great is that!

I had mentionned Leona Lewis before, and what do you know, but her first single from her second album, Echo, debuts. "Happy" was beat out for the UK #1 spot by the Black Eyed Peas, but she managed to hit #2, as well as top-10 in Austria, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, and Japan, and made the US top-40. It's co-written by OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, also responsible for "Bleeding Love", and does resemble the former hit quite well..

Swedish DJ and singer Jonas Altberg goes by the moniker Basshunter, and in 2007 he made #1 in the UK with "Now You're Gone", which also made my top-40. His new single, "Every Morning", is much more pop-based, and while it's top-20 in the UK, it's making the top-5 in the US Dance Radio chart.

The Barry White (or Randy Travis, if you will) of current country music, Josh Turner, is back with his enticing baritone, with the plea of "Why Don't We Just Dance"...

Jake Owen's latest single, "Eight Second Ride", was also recorded on his first album. The second time around is the charm, as the country-rocker makes the top-20.

R&B balladeer Brian McKnight is back with an adult R&B jam, "What I've Been Waiting For", just in time for snuggling on those cold winter nights...

Next is Iyaz (Keidran Jones), a protege of Sean Kingston (of "Fire Burning"), with a US top-10 jam that's pop enough for middle school. Here's "Replay"..

Kim Sozzi's last song, "Feel Your Love", was a dance radio smash, and her new hit, "Kiss Me Back (Cry Tonight)", is following well, making her second #1 solo there.

Finally, French singer Sliimy, whose real name is Yanis Sahraoui, who gained the attention of Perez Hilton for his rendition of "Womanizer", but comes out the gate with the bouncy club track "Wake Up"...

I would love to know what you think...and if you like something here, head on over to Amazon.com or I-Tunes and buy it..support the artists! Thanks again, and peace out.
