twostepcub's music chart for June 12, 2009...

Hey guys, I'm back from Philly Pride and all settled down, so it's past due for my tunes for the week. This week Theory Of A Deadman stay on top for a second week, while Green Day (pictured above) leap into the top-10. Former big hits by Taylor Swift and Kristine W. drop off the list, while Daughtry, Cage The Elephant, and Taylor Swift (again) have the biggest movers (all in red). Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted name of any of the artists below to go to their website. Right-click, and you can use another tab or window and keep this page... Damn groundhogs!

This week nine new songs enter my list, and the highest is the fourth single from Katy Perry's debut album One Of The Boys. The first three all hit the top-40 - "I Kissed A Girl", "Hot N Cold", and "Thinking Of You". The last one was a ballad, but her latest goes back to the overproduced electro-dance-pop she's good at. Here's "Waking Up In Vegas"...

Linkin Park had a top-10 hit with a song used in the first Transformers movie, and they try to repeat history with the theme from its sequel. Here's "New Divide"...

AnnaGrace is the combo of Annemie Coenen and Peter Luts, who are two (former?) members of the Belgian dance group Ian Van Dahl. Luts had also recorded under his own name, with a dance hit "What A Feeling" from 3 years ago that made my chart, while IVD has three UK top-10 hits. The last single under Annagrace, "You Make Me Feel", made my top-20, and the latest is just as good. Here's "Let The Feelings Go"...

Jamie Foxx's "Blame It" has been a smash in America, and it's finally made my list. Here's the most gratuitous use of Auto-Tune since I don't know when..

It was a major coup for all the singles from the American Idol juggernaut to be upstaged on the Billboard charts by a remake of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" done by the cast of the TV musical sitcom Glee. Well deserved, they even managed to outperform Journey's original chart peak of #8. Here it is...

There are two singing competition winners debuting on this week's chart, and neither are from an American Idol contestant. The first is the winner of the Eurovision bonanza I've been posting about before, and it's by Alexander Rybak, who was born in the former Russian territory of Belarus, and moving at age four to Norway, where he represented them to their first victory since 1995. Here's "Fairytale"...

Next up is country singer Randy Houser, who follows up his mournful breakup song "Anything Goes" with the decidedly more upbeat "Boots On" (complete with cute-as-hell baby video)..

British rapper Dizzee Rascal goes the psychedelic route with dance remixer Armand Van Helden for the trippy "Bonkers" that made #1 in the UK...

And lastly, Germany's version of the American/Pop Idol franchise, Deutschland Sucht den Superstar (which to Americans sounds like "the suckiest superstar"), culminated this year in the win by Daniel Schuhmacher. Interesting to note the Daniel sang one of the same songs, "Ain't No Sunshine", that America's winner Kris Allen did in his final. hmmm... Here's Schuhmacher's debut single, "Anything but Love", which is at the top of the Germaan chart.

Take care!
