twostepcub's music chart for May 9, 2009...

Hey folks, since I was working/taking Mom out for Mother's Day, I have to catch up and post my tunes for the week. This week Lady GaGa spends a fourth week at the top, while the Fray (pictured above) hangs on in the top-10. The biggest jumps are by Depeche Mode, Seether, and U2, while former big hits by Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift, Brandy, David Cook, and Nicki Richards drop off. Link-O-Rama is back, so you can click on the name of any artist highlighted to go to their website (rightclick to go to another window). Grass is cut, thank God!

This week there are twelve new songs on my chart, starting with the highest, by dance/R&B singer Deborah Cox. She's originally from Toronto, Canada, and for a while she's had the longest stay at #1 on the R&B chart, 14 weeks, for the classic "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here". She's also racked up 10 #1 Dance Club hits, and her latest may follow that path. Here's "Beautiful U R"....

Next is my pick for the week, by American punk band Green Day. Their long-awaited followup to Grammy winner American Idiot drops this week, and the first single is "Know Your Enemy".

Up now is Japanese-American (Hikaru) Utada, who has been a major success in Japan and the Far East, and five years ago had a #1 dance hit in the US with "Devil Inside". This time she rocks the dancefloors again with the song "Come Back To Me", and here's the official slower version video..

Los Angeles band Silversun Pickups land on my chart with "Panic Switch", a manic rocker about insanity...

I had featured British electronic duo La Roux previously on a Distant Shores Songs post, and now Elly Jackson and Ben Langmaid reach my big chart with the early 80's channeling "In For The Kill", which is a big hit in the UK.

Now for the country band that brought you "Chicken Fried", here's the more traditional "Whatever It Is"...with their live version from the House Of Blues in New Orleans (which Sugarbear and I passed by)..

Another DSS song is by French artist Helmut Fritz, produced by dance mixers Discobitch, with "Ca M'enerve", translated roughly to "It Annoys Me". It's the biggest selling download in France right now...

And 180 degrees from that song is Alan Jackson's heartfelt ballad to a passed loved one "Sissy's Song"..

Next up is someone I haven't heard from in a long time. Freedom Williams. Yes, "Gonna Make You Sweat" C&C Factory Freedom Williams. This time supporting NYC trio Speakerbox with "Mind Bounce".

There's two debut songs this week titled "Come Back To Me", and the second is by last season's American Idol winner David Cook...

Rock band Safetysuit are originally from Tulsa Oklahoma, but now are based in Nashville, and their second single to hit my chart is "Stay"...

and finally is the current #1 US Hit by the Black Eyed Peas, "Boom Boom Pow", sneaking in on MY chart in the #100 spot...
