Twostepcub's music chart for May 22, 2009...

Well, so much for posting on time....sorry to say, here's my top tunes from last week, during the long Memorial Day weekend. I'm just come back from a foggy, drizzly day in New York, so here goes...

This week American bands are doing well, as Kings Of Leon takes over the top spot from Lady GaGa, white the Plain White T's (pictured above) move up within the top-10. The biggest moves are by songs by Rob Thomas, AR Rahman, and Pink, while former big hits by Nickelback, Tim McGraw, Jimmy D. Robinson, and Maroon5 drop off the list. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the highlighted name of any artist to go to their website. I can't eat all this pie!

Besides Rihanna's "Breakin' Dishes", which storms back onto my list with a 2009 remix, there are eleven new songs on my list. I'll start off with Senegalese-American singer Akon, who's protege' Lady GaGa is omnipresent on the chart. His current hit is "Beautiful", which is a former top-10 song in Britain, and making the top-20 in the US pop and dance charts.

Next is Kelly Clarkson, who follows up her current top-10 song "My Life Would Suck Without You" with "I Do Not Hook Up"...

RuPaul has been riding high with his RuPaul's Drag Race, and the song (s)he's been plugging on the show is finally making waves in the dance clubs with "Cover Girl"..

French DJ David Guetta teams up with former Destiny's Child Kelly Rowland for the jam "When Love Takes Over"..

Another pairing of dance artists brings Sylvia Tosun together with the production team of Loverush UK for "5 Reasons"...

Teen country star Taylor Swift mines her latest album for the peppy "You Belong To Me"...

...and on the other side of the spectrum is Reba McEntire, who scores with her latest single "Strange"...

Next is Tinchy Stryder - who hit the #1 spot in the UK with the appropriately titled "Number 1"...

The Dave Matthews Band is back with "Funny The Way It Is"....

And another former DSS pairs band Magic System with rai singer Khaled for the Ivory Coast/Algerian collaboration of "Meme Pas Fatigue", which is the biggest song in France right now...

and finally Yoko Ono brings another song onto the dance charts. This time it's "I'm Not Getting Enough", and here's the original version...
