twostepcub's music chart for May 15, 2009...

Hey everybody, sorry for the light posting, it's been a wicked stressful week. But I wanted to catch up with my tunes for the week, and hopefully will be back on track next week. I appreciate you for checkin' in with me. This week Lady GaGa spends a fifth week at the summit, while Enrique Iglesias (pictured above) barrels into the top-10. Former big hits by Jake Owen, Jimmy Wayne, The White Tie Affair, Darius Rucker, Jes, Usher, and Beyonce drop off the chart, while the biggest moves are by Green Day, Deborah Cox, and Utada. This week there are an even dozen songs debuting on the chart, as well as the Lost Trailers' "How 'Bout You Don't" sneaking back on. The highest new tune is by Pink, whose "Sober" is still in the top-10. The latest, "Please Don't Leave Me", is doing well in the US, as well as making the top-10 in Ireland, Germany, and Austria. It comes with a disturbing video, which may convince ex-hubby Carey Hart to stay away...

Next up is Britney Spears, also with another song hanging around, this time her former top-10 "Circus" at #57. Her new entry is the subtle "If You Seek Amy"...

Norweigan rap duo Madcon (and yes, it seems very weird to be typing that phrase) is comprised of Tshawe Baqwa and Yosef Wolde-Mariam have had five top-10 songs in their home country, with this song, "Beggin'", exploding all over the world, hitting the top-10 in at least 11 countries, and #1 in Norway, Belgium, France, and Spain. It samples the Frankie Valli single, and it's pretty groovy...

and for shits and giggles, here's the Frankie Valli/Four Seasons' version

Dance artist Chris Lake enlists singer Nastala for his latest, "If You Knew"

Nebraska-formed rock band 311 came onto the music scene with the Modern Rock minor hit "Do You Right" in 1993, and after bigger hits like "Down" and "All Mixed Up", they had their second #1 hit in 2004 with a reggae-lite rock remake of the Cure's "Lovesong". After another #2 hit, "Don't Tread On Me" in 2005, they've been out of the MR top-10 until now, with the first single from forthcoming album Uplifter, which will be out next month. Here's "Hey You"...

It seems like every week brings a debut from an American Idol alumnus, and this week isn't an exception, as Kellie Pickler, who came in sixth place in the fifth season, enters with the upbeat "message song" "Best Days Of Your Life"...

Well, as much as uber-dickhead Toby Keith gets on my last nerve, when he avoids the jingoistic bullshit, he can still put out a good song. Proof, his latest, the mournful "Lost You Anyway"...

Incubus has been pretty reliable lately, with their fifth consecutive single making my chart, following "Anna-Molly", "Dig", "Oil & Water", and "Love Hurts". It's from their greatest-hits compilation coming out, here's "Black Heart Inertia"...

Next is a smooth soul jam by singer K'Jon. Here's "On The Ocean"..

Long-hair country singer Jason Michael Carroll returns with the title track from his latest album, "Where I'm From"...

and finally, Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas comes on early with his red-hot track "Her Diamonds"...

Goodnight, everyone! I'll try to start back with more posting once my groove gets back, and I'm on vacation! W0ohoo!
