Story of the day: April Fools?

Today came through on having an "are they kidding?" moment when Attorney Eric Holder is asking a federal judge to dismiss charges of corruption against already-convicted Ted Stevens (pictured above, thinking about how I'm clogging the "internet tubes"). His stated rationale is publicly about the mishandling of evidence by the prosecutorial team from the Department Of Justice, as well as intuitively about Stevens' age (supposedly a reason not to re-try). There were all kinds of other shenanigans, including accusations of affairs between FBI agents and witnesses.

On the one hand, it's heartening on the surface that Holder would go so far in the name of "doing things by the book" as to scuttle this because it was bungled so badly. In fact, I almost fear that the Gonzales DOJ may have purposefully thrown the case against their "own".

However, considering that now Stevens is off the hook, instead of just clamming up, he's now using the DOJ move to re-proclaim his innocence, which is utter bullshit.

"I always knew that there would be a day when the cloud that surrounded me would be removed. That day has finally come. It is unfortunate that an election was affected by proceedings now recognized as unfair," he said in a statement.

Fuck you, you stupid old coot. You got off on a technicality. If you weren't in the good old boy Senate club (which many times I fear the president worships too much), you'd be in jail having your ass reamed by a meth addict named Moe. It's apparent that he took favors for his public work. He's fucking proud of it. He solely thinks he should be reinstated in the Senate. I can imagine the dickwad suing the government now for unlawful trial or some such thing. Mr. Holder, will you be a pussy then, or then throw the fucking book at him? Just askin'.

Because every time something like this happens, us common folk think you will just be rolled over in order to be liked. Fuck that shit.

Now let's dance..

UPDATE: and one more question: Are the lawyers who fucked this case up royally still working at the Justice Department, let alone not been disbarred or censured?
