And now, the reason for the previous post, my weekly chart of top tunes. Link-O-Rama is in for the debuts this week, I'll try to update the whole chart next week. I really appreciate everyone who comes here, and I'd love to hear your thoughts (well non-just-"this sucks" comments :-) ). This week Lady GaGa [pictured above] reaches the summit yet again with her fourth single. The biggest moves are by songs by Mariah Carey, Plumb, and Altar. It's been a month since my last chart post, so everything's shuffled up... Hey, I'm trying to get my groove back on, and the biggest part of that is my music. Total geek admission: when I was a youngun I would be obsessed with Casey Kasem. With all the craziness around me, every Sunday for four hours there was a reliable pattern of "Shaggy" going through the 40 songs that Billboard magazine computed as the top songs in the country. Back then (the beginning of the 80s) pop, rock, disco, R&B, and country stood side by side, and Casey can go from Joan Jett to the Gap Band to A Flock Of Seagulls to Ronnie Milsap, and this little kid was exposed to all kinds of current music, when radio wasn't so compartmentalized as it is now. At the time, the Billboard chart was compiled by tabulating lists provided to them by radio stations and records stores of what they were playing or selling. Of course it wasn't even close to scientific, and prone to fudgery and speculation, but it produced week after week a chart that progressed like one of those

Tonight's DSS is by Danish singer Aura Dione , and her first big Euro-hit, "I Will Love You Monday (365)". It's a great bubbly kiss-off that should find a home in a fairer US radio world. If you liked KT Tunstall (Black Horse & The Cherry Tree/Suddenly I See), chances are you'll dig this... Right now the only way to get Aura Dione is by import, you can find it on Amazon Germany by clicking here ...

As the majority of Americans seem to be transfixed on where golfers stick their clubs, the juggernaut of political self-serving molasses known as the US Senate is bouncing the healthcare reform dodgeball like a repressed goth girl at a Catholic elementary school. I got to hand it to the politicians and pundits who have been able to convince middle to lower-but-think-they're-middle-class people that it's in their best interests to continue the clusterfuck of a crapshoot that the insurance industry has become. Without a bat of a eyelash, millions of dollars are being passed from the coffers of AIA members to your local Senator. Meanwhile, there is such an uproar over a misguided fear. Fear of losing their insurance? No. More like fear of someone they feel undeserving getting some "freebie". An unemployed person? Well, if it's someone you know, it's "Bobby's going through a tough time, he got laid off". Someone you don't? "Fucker should

So the New York Senate pussied out and voted against marriage equality in New York . There were very brave souls there fighting for the rights of gays/Lesbians to marry, with emotional stories of family members and friends. More later, but leave it to say that this country has become a reality show, where people relish in voting on the unrelated fates of others, while salivating over the sordid tales of a golfer who banged a few chicks on the side. Need some semi-mindless motivation, so here's Cheryl Cole.. @ Yahoo! Video

Wow. It's been almost a month since my last post. I'm prone at times to a bit of writer's block, but I think between the vitriolic atmosphere politically in my state combined with my commitments to work and rodeo, I couldn't put myself in front of a computer to coherently write something worthwhile, and I thought about why I was doing this to begin with. I started this blog back in 2006, where my life was a lot different than it is now. A lot has changed, both with me and with my world around me. I loved this blog as a sounding board where I didn't have to go into my own facts and foibles, but can journal my thoughts on the stuff I get so obsessed with that I needed an outlet for. And I love doing it, as long as it's something I want to do, not what I'm expected to do. It seems that's been where I've been most of the time lately. And I've been overwhelmed with things I feel obligated to, and as much as it has been dominating my brain, I never wan
