Twostepcub's music chart for December 26, 2008...

Hey guys, I hope everyone who celebrated Christmas had a good one, and for those celebrating Hanukkah a big Shalom, and to everyone else I wish you peace and joy as well. Time for my tunes of the week. This week Nickelback sticks around at the top for a third week, while Katy Perry (pictured above) jumps into the top 3. The biggest moves come from songs by Beyonce, Ultra Nate, and The Pussycat Dolls, while former big hits by Estelle, Carrie Underwood, and Tami Chynn drop off the list. Link-O-Rama is still in effect, so you can click on the name of any artist to go to their website (sorry, I fixed a couple links this week that were wrong last week). This week five new songs debut. The first is by country singer Lee Ann Womack, who is most known for thoughtful, classy ballads like "I Hope You Dance" and "A Little Past Little Rock". In that same vein is "Last Call", where she despair over being the "last resort" in a codependent relationship with an alcoholic.

Next up is singer Nikka Costa, who has been hanging around the underground soul-pop scene for awhile. Her new song "Stuck To You" is getting airplay in dance clubs as a remix, but the original is just as good, with a easy funky sound..

George Strait has been a mainstay on the country charts since 1981, and his third single from his Troubadour album, "River Of Love", borrows from the beachy, Buffett/Chesney canon. Here he is performing at the CMA awards..

Victoria Sharpe records under the moniker Celeda, and the New York-based diva follows up her former #1 Billboard dance hit "Amazing" with the similar-themed "Good Time", which is made for the dance first, think later club crowd...

and finally, rock band Plain White T's from Illinois may have gotten themselves in a pickle by the overwhelming success of emo-ballad "Hey There Delilah", as the next song to make it here replicates it pretty well. It's a long way from their breakthrough song "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)". Here's "1,2,3,4 (I Love You)"...
