twostepcub's music chart for December 19, 2008...

Hey everybody...the nasty nasty cold is beginning to go, and just in time for Christmas! Woohoo! This week's list has Nickelback sticking around up top, while Leona Lewis (pictured above) sneaks into the top three. This week five new songs debut and one re-enters. The highest of them is Robbie Williams, though not literally anymore, since he's thankfully up and getting himself together in rehab. The third song from his Rudebox album (after "Lovelight" and "She's Madonna") was originally an homage "We're The Pet Shop Boys", featuring none other than the duo themselves, but now has been revamped with Dutch DJ Sander Van Doorn with the subtitle "Close My Eyes"...

and I'd be remiss not to include the original, which I admit to prefer..

Beyonce is already scaling the chart with "If I Were A Boy", but the follow-up couldn't wait. Internet meme and all, it's a friggin' powerhouse. Witness the thighmaster thickness of "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)"...

Not my friend Karl would not hear it if I didn't mention this video is a knockoff of the delightfully trippy dance number of Gwen Verdon titled "Mexican Breakfast"...here it is...

and then there's this...

Denver-based rock band the Fray, most notable for songs like "Over My Head" and "How To Save A Life" are back with a new single from their upcoming album, here's "You Found Me"..

Another rock band that was nominated for a Grammy, Tennesseans Paramore, are back with a track from the soundtrack from the vampire-love movie "Twilight". Here's "Decode"...

And now for a blast from the past, the group that gave us this top-ten song in 1991 (the days of the new-jack swing)...

re-enter with the smooth R&B of "Nothing Left To Say"..

and finally singer Ne-Yo, previously in my top-5 with "Closer", sends a second single, "Miss Independent", into the bottom spot...

Hopefully I'll make it back on before Christmas, but if not I hope everyone has a peaceful, love-filled holiday...
