Twostepcub's music chart for October 24, 2008...

Hey everybody, it's time for my tunes for the week. This week, Rihanna spends a third week at the summit, while Jennifer Hudson (pictured above) makes it into the top-5. Songs by Apocalyptica, Secondhand Serenade, and Tami Chynn make the biggest jumps, while former big hits by Jason Aldean, Foo Fighters, Maroon5, Antoine Clamaran, Solange, Jesse McCartney, and Keith Anderson drop out. Link-O-Rama is still in full effect, so you can click on the name of any artist to go to their website (rightclick and you can more easily bring it up in another tab or window). Peace out.

UPDATE: Prayers go out to Jennifer Hudson and her family, who were victim to a horrible crime, with Hudson's mother and brother being shot, and her nephew missing...

Last week I had ten debuts, and this week continues the shift, with nine new songs. First off is the new single by Canadian band Nickelback. It's hard to believe their previous album, All The Right Reasons, was released over three years ago, since five of their songs from that CD made my top-40. Their upcoming release, Dark Horse, was produced by the band with uber-producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, of AC/DC-Def Leppard-Shania Twain fame. Here's "Gotta Be Somebody", and it's a great uplifting song, and it's my "pick" for the week.

This week sees two women of Southest Asian heritage debut on my list, and the first is Tina Sugandh. Born in Mumbai (formerly Bombay), and now from New Jersey, Sugandh has been a presence in the "Bollywood" scene due to her parents' careers and Tina also hosting AVS (that's the Bollywood clip show that always seems to be on on Saturday mornings on my cable). Her new effort, "Break Me", is a dance hit, but it still has that Bolly touch. Here's a clip for "Break Me" fromt he proclaimed "Tabla Girl"...

Kings of Leon may be a rock band consisting of Tennessee brothers (and a cousin), but they are wicked hot in the UK, where all four of their albums have made at least the top three, and their seventh top-40 British hit is their first #1. Here's "Sex On Fire"...

Katy Perry had an international smash with "I Kissed A Girl", now she's dealing with a man who's "Hot N Cold"...very 80's-esque, I must say...

The Killers are back with the first single from their upcoming album Day And Age, which is produced by Stuart Price, who was behind Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor album, and effectively brings back the new-new-wave drama that I liked from them...Here's "Human"...

You may have seen New Yorker Keo Nozari on Logo TV either interviewed on in the Ones video "When We Get Together". Here he is with his first 2SC chart song, "Rewind"...

Rewind - Keo Nozari

And now British band Keane follows up their classic album Under The Iron Sea with a great new taste of the upcoming album, which I just bought last week. Here's "Spiralling"...

And now for the second South Asian debut - in this case Sri Lankan Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, or M.I.A., as the world knows her. Daughter of Tamil revolutionaries, her fighting spirits comes through on her two excellent albums of hip-hop and world music to something totally distinctive. Her song "Paper Planes" is now getting hot due to its inclusion in the Seth Rogan vehicle "Pineapple Express". Here's Paper Planes...

Finally, current country superstars Brad Paisley and Keith Urban team up for the first single from Brad's upcoming album, Play, here's "Start A Band"...

take care and good night, y'all!
