Single Life...July 4, 2006

I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone, and along with the chart post the singles for the week.

Bunny Rugs - "Now That We Found Love" (Norty's In The Club Mix) Bascially this is a speed-up of the former member of Third World's reggae take on the O'Jays classic. Not bad, but I still will go for the Heavy D any day of the week.

Andy Bell - "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" (Goetz Extended Mix) This almost makes me wonder why this couldn't be an Erasure release. Very retro, like cribbed right off of Erasure's "Breath Of Life". Which isn't a bad thing. Basically their songs veer to either campy or dramatic. This is on the dramatic side.

Muse - "Supermassive Black Hole" a sadly overlooked band here in the states, Muse is wildly popular in the UK. Here they channel glam-rock goodness in a shiny new wrapper. Reminds me of the Collective Soul record from last year. With any justice, will be big here. Awesome record.

Conjure One - "Face The Music" Really good atmospheric trance, not unlike Perpetuous Dreamer's "Dust.Wav". This is great to hear in the car.

Muzzaik - "You Can Turn Me On" (Ralphi Rosario Mix) Good beat, but pretty much banal any other way. Only the singer Mia (I have no idea if this is the Mia who sang "Addicted" but it sure ain't the Tamil-English rapper) chanting the title over and over. OK for the dancefloor, but kinda boring otherwise.

Tony Moran featuring Deep Influence - "Cafe Con Alegria" This is a little more entertaining tribal song. But is he opening a Club Starbucks? Mindless fun, but nothing new.

Leana - "Faith" Another dance siren from Sweden. This is the followup to "Dance With A Stranger", and it's pretty good. Like Ace of Base haven't left.
